Not that Spectacular of a movie.

When this movie came out at the cinemas, i was in school having my exam, as a result i couldnt catch it at the cinema. all along i heard how good it was, and all the fantastic reviews and whatnot. so when the opputunity presented itself , i bought the Original VCD, bout 6 months after the fact to see whats the fuss about.

When i wtached it, I was left with mixed feeling.

I did not expect a fantastic movie in the line of Ron Howard, and all the great directors but i expect it to be better than other Malay movies and i was right, it was better. instead of the standart "husband wanna take another wife" scenario that we have over and over again, we have a story of interracial love and its refreshing. the two lead did a great job, i laughed my head off during the beginning scene when Jason dance to the Malay traditional song. i agree when Orked says that Malays are lazy, i am a Malay myself, overall it was good.

Now the bit i was dissapointed with was the camera shot. this movie seems amateurish, i made me wander the whole way through whether there was only one camera in use. i also dont like the fact that when u can hear voice talking, u cant see the person who's saying it, or his head was out of shot. there was no close up and the editing was horrible. you can clearly see teh 'movement' from one scene to the other. and the supporting cast that played Orked's friends suck. they cant act. it all seems very awkward. there was one scene when a boy should be yelling to Orked, but he did such a bad job at it, his yelling and anger seems forced.

I want to agree with the masses that this is best movie that have ever made but i cant. i have to agree the story line, the plot, the script is good but the deliverance is just a total let down. amateurish directing i guess but a good effort nonetheless.

Kudos to the director for the effort and thank you for paving the way for more better Malaysian movies to come.
