Anyone know the other 4 scenes that was chopped?

reply

another scene is during the photoshoot at the photo studio. there's this one pose where jason was sitting facing the right of the screen, and orked walked up to him from the back, lifting her sarong, and sat astride him.

cant remember the others.

reply

ok...that would make 5...anyone know of the other 3?

reply

gosh! another deleted scene is when keong, Orked and Jason sit at the mamak stall and have their casual conversation. Keong saying that not every Chinese in Malaysia is business minded, just like Malay, not every Malay is lazy. But Orked (a malay girl) said she personally think that MALAY ARE ALL LAZY! Now you know why is this censored? simply because there are people who are not brave enough to accept the true fact!

reply

Yes, i can understand why that could be a sensitive issue. OK...the next 2? Anyone?

reply

during the same scene of jason visiting ah keong at the hospital, jason was explaining about the origins of peranakans, jason said "those *beep* that's how the peranakan people came to be laaa..."

Oh yes, it was definitely sexy in that position, but I wouldn't know anything about masterbating.

Brylau,

You said "But Orked (a malay girl) said she personally think that MALAY ARE ALL LAZY! Now you know why is this censored? simply because there are people who are not brave enough to accept the true fact! "

This kind of generalization ("true fact")just shows your ignorance and inherent racist attitude...Orked was just giving her opinion, OK...whether it is a true fact or not is up to the audience. I am not in favor of too much censorship either, but I bet that had the comment been disparaging to the chinese e.g. "chinese are materialistic beings where cold hard cash is the bottom line", that remark would have been censored as well.

Brylau, u shd be ashamed of yourself..u know better than to generalize! where's your muhibah spirit?

Peace,

personally, i think lots of people overreacted to this. it was meant as a joke about how people see one another with these typecasts. it was a joke and nothing more. we should be able to laugh at ourselves and not be overly sensitive. as long as it is meant to be tongue in cheek and not malicious, it should be ok. heck, even those so called 'stupid singaporeans' could laugh at themselves, why not we?

reply

ok...i will compile all the one posted previously and add in to make that 8 cuts...

actually there was 9...
1. the part where mak n abah tickling with each other on the bed...they ended up...suggestively having sex

2. the part when mak and abah chasing each other, suddenly abah's sarung drop n his underwear is revealed...it was wiggling...hehehehe...

3. the word fu cking "mun hiong" said by ah loong in the mamak stall scene n hang cibai by keong in the hospital scene.

4. when orked pulled up her kain in the photo studio

5. the part where Abah took a comb down when the ladies in the house were lice picking ( just a tradition - for god's sake ...who doesn't enjoy your scalp getting massaged )

6. Ah Keong said Hang Cibai in the hospital

7. Jason said "those fu cker's ham sap la"

8. about the lazy malays...during the mamak stall.

9. Stupid singaporeans during dinner at Ah Loong's home

some things the censorship missed - pak atan said MILF when picnic outside the house playing scrabble, Ah keong reached into his crotch thinking bout girls in wet sarong.

the ninth one was removed because SePet was screened for one month ( plus extension ) and without censor...and singaporeans loved it with that "stupid singaporeans" thus yasmin argued bout it and it got lifted.

ok cheers about it...have a good day watching it...

BTW...gubra ( sepet 2 ) is on production...

I'm so glad that the VCD version restored all these cuts which were I think rather unecessary. Hence the movie flow was smooth all the way throughout for me; cuz I get to watch it in the privacy of my own home.

The cuts were just for the theaterical releases I believe.

reply

i saw the VCD version of Sepet... its all in there i guess.

reply

Why would they cut where the girl said 'all malays are Lazy'? When I saw the movie, I found it really funny 'coz Malays are lazy BUT for some of them...I am malay myself and I admit I'm one...But when i got bored or something, I'll clean the house or ironing clothes...
They shouldn't cut that...Its funny!!

reply

ahaks...

malays are lazy, very true though. i wonder how those guys today get offended by this things but when it comes to P Ramlee movie, none og them actually say the same thing. and if any of you actually watch lots of P Ramlee movie, there are lots of foul words in there and our society just don't care. i dunno why.

don't you think that our society too freaking out bout this? too protective. ala..give chance for the next generation to think on their own la. if they not learn from movie, commercial break or television, they'll learn most of the from their frenz. stop them la if you can. sometimes, cursing and foul word are necessary in making up a very good jokes. don't you?

stop kidding yourself with high class elegent attitude. stop faking it, it's make me want to puke. be average Malaysian with sometimes foul mouth. :P . hrm..practice it through traffic jam everyday, no need to hold your anger. just burst it out with your foul mouth. come on..don;t be so naive. :)

I think malays are not lazy. They're just laid back people and don't think material items are a first priority in life. This is because for thousands of years malays have been living in the peninsula (tropical) where there are ample food and shelter unlike in China where food is not as readily available and they have to face winter.

Notice that all the popular resorts are situated at the tropical region?
Tropical = Relax.
Enough said. :o)

Darn I watched the DVD version. it's the censored vers.

all vcds are uncensored?

anybody knows where to get the screenplay of this movie?

reply

.. apparetnyl you can't find pirate copy of this movie, so you'll have to go to the bigger video shops to find it. orriginal movies are hard to come by here in Malaysia. I'm looking to find gubra on VCD and also other Malaysian movies.

Maybe one day we all can gather at my appartment and have a M.M.M

ps: MMM=Malaysian Movie Maratthon ;)

Question, I've read that the Malaysian censors originally banned it because the main character did not convert/no effort was made to convert him to Islam? Is this true? If so, did the director bow to the censors and convert the character? O.0

reply

no, i did not.

reply

Is it ironical that there're only Malaysian users on this board.

Sepet: 10/10

reply

More than ironic - it's sad, cos the movie deserves more publicity from outside Malaysia. The censorship board of Malaysia is made out of a bunch of stupid holier-than-thou morons. They have the silliest reasons for censoring things; thinking that THEY know what is best for ME. What's the point of having the rating system if things are censored anyway? Fools.

No, I'm a Singaporean. I read the board but I don't comment coz most of what you guys said I have no comments on it. I love the movie though. I watched the Sepet + Gubra marathon at our local cinema. It was very long and my ass hurts for sitting so long but it was all worth it. Yasmin Ahmad, Sharifah and Chee Seong was there too. At the end of the movie, we get to talk to them.
