Nice movie, bad ending... (spoilers)

I liked the movie, but the ending was very cheap. He just lets himself get blown away... To give the scene a little more flavour they added the coffee thing, but it still sucked...

I agree. He should have joined his family and leave. The movie is a little bit depressing and it just gets worse untill the ending.

Wasn't the idea of him staying behind to avoid the people who were after him following his family? I gotta admit, I was only half watching it and don't speak dutch so I only caught half the dialogue :P

I don't quite agree with what you say.

Ofcourse, it's not a happy Hollywood ending, but with the actions that Dennis made all along the story (loaning money from the wrong guys, making enemies with the Amsterdam underworld, etc. etc.) it was quite obvious that he wouldn't make it out alive. He was simply a dead man walking... and there was only one safe way out for his brother/girlfriend/niece... but he couldn't go along with them, they would find him anywhere.

And if he really wanted to play hardball, he should have killed the TCA boss including his two bad ass "cage fighters"... and not only killing one of them.

The police would not offer him protection, so that kinda sucked.

Not a happy end, but a reasonably good (but dark) end.
