So I played Alliance for the past year or so and always thought "Hmm maybe I shiould roll Horde" but never did anything about it. I mean I've already got my 70 why would I want to do that again? Boy am I sure glad I rerolled into Horde. The quests are amazing, most of the instances are in your territory, the racials are obviously better, and nobody whines. When people were getting ganked in Hillsbrad/STV, nobody was like "Omgosh I'm getting ganked by an Ally this is so stupid /cry" they just rezzed and kept playing. I honestly logged into my alt on Alliance and within 10 minutes saw people complaining in General chat about being ganked. AND THEN they go onto say they're not going to do that when they turn 70 blah blah. THEN WHY THE *beep* DID YOU ROLL A PVP SERVER? If you hate being ganked, then go to a carebear server and stfu. If you aren't a complainer and want to actually win BGs when you hit 70 lol reroll Horde.

I've always played Horde ever since I started playing WoW(when BE was released). When I decided to play Ally, the moment I started playing there were a lot of idiots and whiners and spammers. People get easily mad during instances and they don't take kindly to anyone who asks a simple question on general or trade channel. They were that bad. So I stuck with my Blood Elf main.
I always thought that being Horde was the way to go. At least you can keep beating allys in battlegrounds. Horde FTW!!!

yeah. i think general chat and trade chat is doomed for idiocy whatever side you roll on. i dont think there is any more predominance either way. hasnt there been a WoW survey, and they actually found younger people play the alliance, because they can identify with the humanoid characters easier?. im sure this is pre burning crusade, as everyone has flocked to play BE's. (I'm a 70 Blood Elf Mage myself lol).

but yeah i have only ever got an alliance character up to level 20 before getting frustrated. i dont know if this is an alliance thing only or what...but i always get idiots asking me to quest with them every time you land in a starting zone. like you dont need to group at all untill at least level 15 or 20. i swear to god, noone on horde does that. i think i have only had it about twice ever. but yeah other than that i dont think it can be said either way.

all i know is i will always play horde, as i like the darker races moreso. i also regret rolling a BE as my main :P. wish i was an undead

I HAVE noticed, that in younger battlegrounds the alliance always wins, and around level 50-60 horde always wins. Well, 90ish percent of the time both ways. Generally the socializing is much better in horde, as long as it isn't in the Barrens.

i'm alli thro and thro, tried horde and couldnt get into it and i have tried
, prefer alli areas and quests. In saying that i totally get what people are saying about alli chars being imature, yes you get the same on my server with the horde, but not to the same extent.

But yeah... i havnt played horde yet, but from the sounds of it i should!
iv got a level 35 dark elf hunter at the mo.

got any idears for a good class/char to be with horde?

The reason why the alliance complain about being ganked, is becasue we unfairly have to see horde early on. Horde doesn't have to see any alliance until like level 40. I know, because I also have a Blood Elf warlock, and she is at 39, and has not had to step into contested territory yet. I saw NO alliance as a Blood Elf in Silvermoon City.

While as a Human warrior, I was seeing Horde at 10. Those 70's would ride through Westfall when it was contested, and just smack me.

So it may seem as if it's little kids complaining. But I am 30, and I say I was doing some as well. Not in chat, but amongst the guild I was in. They tried to help when they could, but I figured about after a week, that they weren't gonna help anymore.

But... I think that is why the alliance complain more. My whole guild stopped playing alliance and went to horde, and we ALL noticed the same thing. Make it to 40, smooth sailing.

Thats not true at all Arien Im currently level a 18 Tauren and have been slaughtered twice by night elves the first time was when 4 of them jumped me in the Barrens and the second time was in the town of Crossroads - a Horde town both times I was doing quest - honestly I liked the fact that I have to watch my back a little durring questing. It makes it more interesting.

Umh, Ok. So I play on a pvp server, and I know for a fact that the Barrens, which Crossroads is a town within, is HORDE territory. It's not contested. Which means for Alliance to gank horde there you have to be "flagged" for Pvp, and that goes on any realm. Which means you did something to flag yourself. Either you healed someone, buffed someone, or rezzed someone who was recently engaged in pvp combat.

In which case, I'm sorry, but I would have killed you as well.

As far as "watching your back". It's easy to do if you're on a PVE or RP realm. If you're pvp on a server that is dominated by horde, literally some days you take a step, get ganked, rez, take another step get ganked. And they're not doing it for honor points. They're doing it to be jerks and because they can. Hardly the mark of more mature players.

Why would you have to worry about lvl 70 hordies riding through westfall unless they're trying to get to the darkmoon faire? In which case I can tell you, we get the same thing in Mulgore with lvl 70 alliance running through, killing every npc and making it generally impossible to quest.

Oh, and the reason you never saw alliance in Silvermoon is because you never saw ANYONE in Silvermoon, it's generally a ghost town.

And I'll point out, we have a large lvl 70 instance right by the BE starting area now, so on my server at least, we get plenty of lvl 70 alliance running through the area now. To say nothing of any Death Knights,horde or alliance, who've decided to level herbalism the easy way, by ninja-ing all the Blood Thistle in the area.

On the other hand, I've seen some serious *beep* on both sides.

I have an 80 ally, and a 75 horde, and I have to say that the amount of whining, complaining, spamming, poor gamesmanship, ganking, camping and general stupidity is exactly the same on both sides. I haven't seen anything as an ally that I haven't seen as a horde, and vice-versa.

You will meet cool people and idiots in equal numbers... whichever side you decide to play.

thanks tessany. i was going to tell the person the same thing. only way to get killed on your own turf is if you are flagged. i havent playe in over 4 months but i cant wait to get back and kick some ass. i miss battlegrounds!

Agreed, and I think a lot of this has to do with how separate Blizzard keeps the two sides. You can't talk to the opposing faction, group with them, or interact in any way except to kill each other. There are plenty of idiots on both sides that will take their epic-geared lvl 80 toon to some lowbie area and start ganking lvl 20's, or a 5-man team will run around taking out solo players, or someone will suddenly appear while you're questing and hit you when you're at 5% health. I think I was in a semi-fair fight once in the 2+ years I've been playing.

You don't often hear someone on your side saying "Hey I'm gonna wreck someone's escort quest and then camp them for an hour", so you don't know when your own folks are being a$$holes, but you certainly hear about it when your own faction is on the receiving end. But if you rolled a PVP server, you have no right to complain when it happens to you.

That being said, Horde rules, Allied suck.

im ali on an rp relm. luv the aliance areas and cities and met some really kl peeps on ali but i will admit for the most part ali side is immature whinny kids. When ever i wanna see horde areas on a low lvl alt i see horde rpin all the time and are usually for the most part respecting. If i had the time id raise another alt but i cant be bothered tbh, not even to raise a death knight. Whilst i wouldnt re-roll i def advise someone to really consider horde for those reasons.

I've made this argument since I started playing a couple years ago. I rolled a tauren warrior, and footstomp has to be one of the most useless racial talents ever. 8 yard radius, one of the few racials that can be resisted, and is the only one that isn't insta-cast. Even if it goes off successfully, it's not a silence, just a 2-second delay to whatever spell or attack was incoming, and since it resets the swing timer, it provides almost no benefit to warriors.

Dwarf racial isn't that great, but all other Allied races are wickedly overpowered compared to Horde.

I started Alliance side on Terenas and everyone I met was 14 or younger and/or chinese gold farmers. I finally decided to see what was going on with the Horde side and rolled on Daggerspine-never looked back. (people were far older and more interesting.)
However as of late I wonder if all the mature people have rerolled alliance bc the overall intelligence has seemed to go down the tubes.

To the guy who said you can quest on horde unmolested until level 40:

I don't see how. Granted, I haven't played in a long, long time but as I remember, after the barrens which you can get to around level 24 or so in, everywhere you go is in contested territory. Ashenvale, Stone Talon, Hillsbrad, Arathi Highlands, Stranglethorn...all the places you would quest to get up into the 30s and beyond...all contested.

As far as racials go, IMHO the best one by far is will of the forsaken. Much more useful then stupid ass invisibility, if your standing still....at night.

I think it may depend on whether you're playing on a PVP or a PVE server. I've levelled several horde characters through those areas and only once had a problem. (Accidentally got flagged from a quest in Ashenvale and a minute later a couple of Level 70 alliance toons rode past me, came back and thrashed my lvl 36 toon.)
