Why haul the water?

Why can't the horses just go to the ranch-house where there is water?

reply

They are wild horses, and the point was to let them stay wild.

reply

horses have a nose for water and if they are wild then they go where they want to go. Ummm there is no river or something for them to go to? How are they different from deer or moose? Don't see ranchers rallying for them and they survive and find food, water, unless their dumb enough to get in the way of (or you get in their way) a vehicle.

Wow! This simple question sure brought about a remarkable variety of responses. Mine is quite simple really. The area has been divided up and fenced by the area ranchers, and the horses are staying out on the public land that borders it. They can not get to the water "by the house".

And (per the movie) it might get the horses killed if you teach them to walk up to strange ranch houses.

Good point, mjessick...remember how Tom wanted to kill them? I was so glad that Natalie was able to "run him off" the way she did while helping dig for the spring. That was cool.
