And it's really amazing how TV movies change some details. Not anything major, I mean the outcome was still the same but a couple of names have been changed in the movie. And Laran didn't get caught like in the movie, some of her daughter's friends turned her in for the reward money. And they lived in Destin,FL not North Carolina, which I think is what the movie said. And also not mentioned in the movie was the fact that the woman who helped Laran was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Does anyone know if they were lovers? Neither the movie or Snapped were very clear about that.

You're right, they did change some of the details, but the story was basically true-to-life. I live in California and I remember hearing about this case...especially since Sarah Dutra, the real "Kristin", was a student at CSU, Sacramento, where I used to attend school (I never knew her though). The latest news I heard was that Sarah's sentence is for around 20 years.

Sarah was released back in 2011 I believe. And she didn't confess like the movie portrayed but she went to trail. A relationship was always implied between them but no one knew for sure.
