Do you think there'll be a sequel?

I might boycott Pixar if they don't, but with Jack-Jack, there's definatly room for one.

reply

If there will be, it would have to be from disney, disney/pixer will stop working together after Cars...

reply

I didn't know about them stopping working together? How's that happened?

reply

I believe, Disney persisted in having a disproportionate cut of the returns of their cooperatively made movies. Pixar simply can't live with that any longer :-)

reply

Apparently, that has now been resolved - Disney (apparently) caved in to Pixar's insistants that they (Disney) either accepted a reasonable percentage of the returns or Pixar would 'walk' from the partnership.

As every film that Pixar has done has done rather well at the box office, Disney have decided to accept Pixar's terms and have agreed to a much more realistic share of the taking.

Cheers :-)

I don't know where you heard that, but as of this time, Pixar and Disney are not even discussing their future. The original contract they had expires in 2006, after the release of "Cars", so unless they are able to renegotiate a new contract, Pixar will "shack up" with another studio, one more willing to meet their demands, and Disney will make the sequels to all of the Pixar films, without Pixar's involvement. Disney, you see, owns all the rights to the characters and franchises of the Pixar films. THIS, moreso that the distribution fee, has been the real "bone of contention" between Michael Eisner and Steve Jobs. Jobs, understandably, wants Pixar to have ownership and say-so over their characters, but Eisner refused to relinquish them, hence the split. Hopefully, since Eisner's contract also expires in 2006, Pixar will wait for him to depart, THEN re-start talks, and they will work something out. Pixar has put off any serious talks with any other studios, so that is a bit of a hopeful sign, but Jobs and Eisner cannot stand each other, so as long as Eisner is at the helm, it's a no-go.

Interesting points made by all. I hadn't realized that Disney owned the rights to characters and sequels for all the Pixar/Disney films.

I knew about the impending split, though. It's hardly a secret that Pixar is unhappy with Disney.

I wonder if part of the discontent is Disney's insistence on bad labor practices... making kids toys in overseas child-labor sweatshops and so forth ?

Or Disney's whacked-out refusal to distribute "Fahrenheit 9/11", despite contractual obligation ?

Both these things have really put major dents in Disney's image. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find that Pixar just doesn't want to be associated with Disney when Disney's name is mud.

reply

There was one point where it did indeed look like Disney & Pixar had come to a mutually acceptable compromise, but it fell through.

I'd presume Disney would use their new CG animation unit (which, I assume, is the group that produced the upcoming Chicken Little) to do any sequels to the Pixar films. (I won't comment on how stupid Disney execs are to blow the Pixar deal, plus their brainless decision to shut down their traditional animation studio in Orlando. ;) )

reply

"...[Disney's] brainless decision to shut down their traditional animation studio in Orlando."

H'm. I didn't know they'd made that decision, but it DOES make sense. Without a heavy reliance on software tweening, traditional painted-cell animation is an extremely labor-intensive way to make movies. Doing it in Orlando is expensive, too... labor ain't cheap in America.

And let's face it... computer animation is the wave of the future. All nostalgic feeligs aside, what looks BETTER and is easier to edit later... a hand-made animation or a CGI ? CGI, of course.

Interesting that sequels should come up, too. Obviously, when you use CGI to generate sets and characters, it becomes incredibly cheap to create sequels, video games, and so on....much of the hard work's done already !

i created a post with some articals regarding what is happining with disney

reply

I don't think they will. I heard that Disney and Pixar aren't working together anymore! I hope thats not true, and I hope they do make a sequal. That'd be awesome.

reply

They won't. Disney has the rights of all the Incredibles material and subjects.

So, if Pixar could do it, great... but if Disney does it, I'm going nowhere near it.

reply

Of course there will be. The movie people are not stupid, if a movie rakes in loads of money (such as this one) there will always be a sequel.

reply

Oh, yeah, there will totally be a sequel. I mean like annylei said with the Jack-Jack stuff there is bound to be one. And I'm not speaking out of denial because i really believe there will be a sequel. Also there was practically no Frozone action that there will most likely be in the sequel. Mabye they'll even introduce some more characters. Listening to the Temptations right now "The way u do the things u dooo..."

*"Edna Mode... and Guest." The Incredibles

That's what I thought what with how they ended it and all. I mean that's just asking for a sequel...Only I was hoping Dash would play a bigger part that kid rocks. Hopefully since there's a game type of sequel that might mean there will be a theater movie sequel. If so that would rock. Maybe they could make a Disney series I loved the first movie I watch it all the time.

reply

HI If we will have a sequel on "the incredibles"..it will be after 2009 pixar studios are busy now with the production of "Cars 2006 " and next yeat with "Ratatouille 2007" and later in 2008 "toy story 3" So we have a lot to wait.

reply

Toy story 3 has been cut and disney bought pixar so there will still be disney pixar movies, or thats how i understand it. There was all this legal mubo jumbo in the article i read so yeah. As someone already said, it would be easy to make a sequal to the increibles and im sure that pixar/disney can make two movies at the same time and release them 6 months apart. there is hardly any disney movies being released that do well so wouldnt it make more sense to ust stick with the pixar stuff.

Bury the Grudge, Burn The Village, See the saw

reply

There will be a Toys Story 3 but production stopped, and now I'm assuming it's starting again cuz they say it'll be out in 2010 (Gawd, I can't wait that long!!!)
