Anyone else get bored?


Whenever I play this (I go back through to try the different scenarios) I slog through the first bunch of dull/lifeless levels, but after the first couple of decent planets; ie, Dxun and Nar Shaddaa, I find I just can't be bothered any more & give up. Then, by the time I get around to going back to it; I've lost the focus of how I played before & end up starting over.

It's never happened to me, but it is a *chore* getting through the bore-fests that are Telos and the mining colony (gets better when you meet Atris though).

That's not how a game should make you feel. The middle-section of the game is awesome though -- and it's a shame the ending was left unfinished because It'd have been awesome as well.

I consider this game to be like a peanut butter & jelly sandwhich -- the good stuff is in the middle.

Exactly; once you get to Atris' place, it gets interesting: you can hop around the galaxy, picking up folks, turning 'em into Jedi if you feel the urge, etc.

But it always bugs me that once you've turned them all, not only don't they say anything new, but you don't get much chance to use them, coz the last few levels have 'fixed characters' and there are too many points on this game where that happens for my liking.

As for that last level; when I'm not doing that ridiculous bit as a flying tennis ball; (Why'd they leave that bit in, if the conclusion to it is gone anyway?) I'm wasting through that academy like I'm using a cheat mode or something. Get attacked by ten bad guys? "Blammo! They're all dead!"

I completely forgot about your crew not saying anything new after they turn into Jedi -- that always did bug me.

Another thing that bothered me were the things conveniently side-stepped by the game regarding your Jedi teammates-- for example, if you already have a partner-turned-Jedi by the time you reach NarShadda (sp?), Atton STILL says "we don't have anybody else he wants captured" when going to rescue the Exile from that cruiser (I can't remember much about that mission though, so I might be wrong)

And the ending had some of the stupidest levels on any videogame -- "you finally got Atton/Bao-Dur/Mira/etc to be Jedi? Well, SCREW YOU! You'll only use them for a total of fifteen minutes before being doomed to wander Malachor V as a flying tennis ball!"

And yes, the Exile is ridiculously bad-ass for his/her own good -- by Onderon, you're already tearing through armies. In KOTOR 1, Revan was powerful, but most of his potential was still dormant from the memory wipe, still giving the sense that he was far from invincible. The Exile, on the other hand, was practically a Star Wars version of Rambo. Too powerful for the character's own good.

Yep, definitely too many faults with the game; one in particular, which tends to affect my gameplay is how much stuff revolves around Nar Shaddaa. I usually tend to start there because so much of your team development happens there. You convert Mira and Atton, you pick up either Mira or Hanhar; (though I don't usually bother with him; I had little enough use with Big Z on the original.) you can assemble HK47. And there's at least four or five spots to get lightsabers/start up components. In fact, with only a nudge of that 'influence' system, I can convert Bao Dur there pretty quick too. And that's another bother that didn't get thought through too well: the influence system is almost pointless. When it comes to converting the team, most of them just need to be talked to/sparred with, ie, Mira/the Handmaiden/the Disciple. And all B-D needs is to be with you when you do something good/bad & he'll open up to the idea; Atton isn't too dissimilar.

The Exile, on the other hand, was practically a Star Wars version of Rambo. Too powerful for the character's own good.

What's extra silly about that is, she gets captured something like 5 times as well despite her abilities (I use the article she because that's the canon).

Heh, I get bored by K1. The levels are repetitive, asks about the locals - decide to help someone and while you're doing that you find your damn map.

Also, the characters doesn't interact with each other and we have some annoying characters too such as Mission, T3 (not doing anything good - in K2 he saves the exile from time to time), Zaalbar (good warrior but his character sucks) and so on.

The only useless character in K2 is G0T0. I hate the first game so much!

At least in K1, they interacted occasionally with each other, and each of the characters had an opinion on different events; like when you're nice/nasty/greedy to people. (a good one is B' and Carth in the Manaan jail)

Yes, the interactions are much better in KotOR II. Cutscenes, not only dialogue, and they don't need the player to say a line that doesn't even matter.

"Can I ask what you expected to see from a Torquay hotel window? Sydney Opera house, perhaps?"
