I am done with Star Wars

The franchise has become too much about money and the next big thing i.e. the MMO. They really do not seem to care much about the fans anymore. Many people including me feel disappointed that LucusArts chose to leave KOTOR 3 by the side of the road and instead opt for something that will make them more money and keep people coming back for more. In my eyes they are taking the easy way out and just used the carpet bombing approach to the MMO and are throwing a lot of flashing things at the fans and hope for success.

They are also dumbing down the series and aiming it at children. I was a young (7) when i first saw the original Star Wars movies and was able to appreciate the brilliance of the original movies. I did not need to have the story dumbed down or made more interesting But now they made the prequels aimed more at children and made an animated series. I feel that the whole Star Wars brilliance is slowly being washed away in an attempt to keep the Star Wars name relevant to younger generation.

I hope for the sake of the Star Wars franchise that they start refocusing on the fans who have been around for years and I do not mean a couple of years like over a decade like me (12 years). I hope LucusArts starts to care more about the fans again.

In short I am done with the Star Wars franchise for now until maybe they can get their stuff back together. Recently they have not listened to the many hardcore fans of KOTOR including me who have been calling for KOTOR 3 but of course that is dead and gone.

They haven't been listening to hardcore game fans for years. Loyal players of the original Star Wars MMO have been hounding them to let Sony return the game to its original format, but instead they keep desperately hoping the new game enhancement version, a dumbed down Everquest clone (best example of this game type is WoW) will sell.

The most ridiculous thing is that in this case, LucasArts has nothing to lose. The game is dead, and it appears that more people are anticipating emulators of the original system than are interested in playing the current Sony version. But LA just keeps trucking on with their stupidity and refusing to return to what fans like.

So I guess it should surprise nobody that LA decided a popular original formula needs to be ignored. While I feel that BioWare is more than capable of making a cutting edge MMO that is easily better than the current standard, it is still a poor choice to continue this particular franchise in this manner unless the highly demanded third installment of KotoR is at least slated for development.

And the point of posting this was what exactly?

I hate how they are using the Star Wars name just for money now instead of putting out quality material anymore.

How dare they release a game that has evolving story that would be more than a $60 10 hour short story and instead will have years of updates and story. How dare they.

I am a leaf on the wind - watch how I soar.
