Where in the subburbs of NY was the movie shot?

The synopsys says Stamford CT. I always thought it was in some town in Westchester mainly because when Gogol is riding back on the train into the city he's on the Hudson line on the Metro North. Plus when the husband was teaching the wife how to drive they showed the Hudson river, looked like Dobbs Ferry or something. Does anyone know?

The suburb--according to the credits--is in the town of Eastchester,NY, (which is actually in Westchester County) not far from The Bronx. But strangely, the Netflix DVD jacket cover refers to the story taking place in "Boston." Perhaps the novel was set there?

Eastchester doesn't have a body of water next to it. I live in Westchester County, that's why I'm curious to find out.

according to this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433416/locations, they did actual filming in Scarsdale, Yonkers, even Nyack.
and yes, the original story (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/000225901X/internetmoviedat/) took place in Cambridge, Mass., outside Boston.

The extras on the DVD say that the interior shots of the suburban house were shot in India which was much cheaper. They also said it was a challenge to recreate US NY suburbia in India, too.

I live in NYC and I got the impression that they first live in Queens and then in Long Island or maybe NJ. Westchester is possible, but my first guess was Nassau County, then Bergen County NJ.

there is a scene in the movie with a dunkin donuts sign on the right, you can see the street sign, cross bay blvd and 163rd ave.
is this the real area or just on a stage ?
because I've been to that dunkin donuts and that intersection looks like it does in that scene but you know how scenes can be recreated almost perfectly.

When the parents first got married it was clear they lived in Queens and when they went to the ocean where the rocks were at it looked like Rockaway Beach or Brighton Beach.

The part where Gogol was on the train along the water was the Hudson Line Metro North which is on the Westchester side.
