Deserves more praise that it received

This was an extremely powerful film in so many ways and I'm somewhat surprised it wasn't hailed more than it was and that it didn't get the extent of theatrical releases that it actually deserved. Fundamentally about the fact that power can certainly corrupt and absolutely power even more so, Land of the Blind is often a very bleak vision of how humans will feel perfectly justified in going to extreme lengths to ensure that their end-goals are realised and that the means to achieve those ends become immaterial. Ralph Fiennes is a brave an excellent actor who I've seen astound me on stage on many occasions (let alone his excellent film-work) and he doesn't disappoint at all in this hugely powerful role. Tom Hollander once again probably steals the show with his psychotic portrayal - a truly frightening character and a marvelously brave performance yet again from this amazing actor who seems able to be brilliant in every single role he ever does and all the roles are so hugely different.

I agree whole-heartedly with what you said. Fiennes and Hollander have never been better, and thorough congratulations should be given to Donald Sutherland for his portrayal of Thorne.

So Agree.

There are so many nations today which have gone thru the revolution-propaganda-suppression-new revolution-new propaganda-new suppression- wash and repeat. Even the United States has done it.

Folks on the Political Left are particularly skewered and satirized in this movie, largely because so many of their nations and peoples have suffered those repeating cycles. Donald Sutherland (aptly named "Thorne") as a Karl Marx-lookalike will make many viewers irritable. But, hang in there; there's lots of funny stuff and mild satire too.

If you don't have tolerance for disturbing facts that don't match your political beliefs, don't watch this movie. It will only raise your blood pressure.

The young writer and director of this movie, Robert Edwards, has 2 new movies coming out, so we'll all be able to suffer the truth together. I'm looking forward to them.
