Jamie was a total tease

I know it's just a movie, but there is no way Jamie wasn't aware that she was a tease. With Dusty in high school he was a mess of pimples and hair barely able to sing one verse of a song that he wrote for her, and 10 years later all she can say is "I can't believe he wrote a song for me!" like she really thought that he just wanted friendship out of that.

I think Jamie was a jerk. She was totally playing with those guys acting like they were on board with being friends when they were practically screaming in her face that they were in love with her.

We're we really to believe that she was that stupid that she didn't know that they liked her? Chris said in the end that you should just put yourself out there and hope that that person likes you back instead of forcing them - hello! That's what he did in the beginning!

Dude she was just a really nice girl who really didn't have a mean bone in her body, and you can't help who you're attracted to. Can you blame her for not putting out for a pimply talentless awkward geek, or her fat best friend she had no romantic feelings for? Unfortunately she went for the stereotypical bad boy jock type, but girls tend to be atttracted to that sort

So, you're one of those people who will let women or girls get away with any sh!tty behavior toward men??

Get off your soapbox while I play you a tune on the tiniest violin.

No one can read your mind. That should have been upfront with it. And he ran away when he finally gave her a letter without hearing her response

I thought she was a tease as well..in high school we saw her group dancing in the middle of a bunch of guys, then she heads to a bedroom with Chris where she flops around in a skirt, opens her legs and you can see her panties..then she puts her head in his lap and wiggles around in his crotch..I know she was a teen thennand teens are immature and not aware of how they come across at times, but seems like it's be common sense to not show a boy your panties and get in his crotch. Also, it's probably common sense that when a boy spends that much time with a girl he's going to develop feelings in most cases.

The grown up Jamie was still messing with men...even though Dusty was playing her back, if he hadn't been messing with her and was serious, he would have been confused and crushed by her actions. She went out with him, invited him to movies, invited him to her house on Christmas, to her church etc..spends time with him..then tells him bluntly she's into him as a friend..that would crush a guy if he truly has feelings for a woman.

Maybe she was just really nice and yes, women should be able to be friends without having the pressure of relationships if they don't want them, but I also think it's common sense among women that you don't hang out with a man and lead them on in any way because ultimately someone is always left wanting more.

I'd love to be able to just hang out with guys and chill as friends but every time I've tried it has lead to them wanting more so I no longer casually hang out with men..I don't feel it's fair to them.

I agree with the OP.

I find Jamie to be a bitch. I don't like her at all.

If she isn't aware of what is going on, when two guys fight over her, she is either (a) the most naive woman on the planet, bordering on single digit IQ levels of intelligence, or (b) a manipulative shrew who is totally aware of how both men feel, and is playing them off against each other.

She is playing them both like a fiddle. Tell me it bothers her that two men are fighting over her.

She flirts constantly with Chris, yet then says that she just "wants to be friends". She sits on his dorm bed, rolls around on it, and even lays her head on his lap, and doesn't think she is sending out signals. Yeah, right.

Every step of the way, she tries to get the upper hand in the relationship. She never refuses an invitation, because it would "send the wrong message", but instead goes along with the guys to everything on offer, but then, only on her terms.

Even when she said that Chris should have made a move on her when they were in bed together, why didn't she make the move? Why didn't SHE step up? Why is it always the guy who needs to make his intentions clear? You know why, in her case, because she wants to be desired, but doesn't want to do any of the work in the relationship. She wants to take, but not give back.

I actually was hoping that Chris would wake up and kick her to the curb, and either (a) hooks up with Anna Faris's character, or (b) lives his life, where he is confident enough in himself to be happy, without needing or wanting Jamie to fulfil it.
