Funny how? A white guy saying stuff like that does sound extra stupid, but it is sadly authentic. I've know several guys just like Jim through the years
shareYeah, I've read reviews were people felt it was phony and he was trying too hard. But that's the poimt. The character is phony and he does try too hard. He wasn't comfortable in his own skin, he's the type of person that probably fakes his way through life to hide how crazy he is. I think Bale was excellent at getting to the core of this character.
sharei thought he did an excellent job. he is so good at playing tormented souls. harsh times and the machinist.

Yeah for all you fools out there saying Bale was talkin like a wigger you are 100% wrong. He was talkin like Vato. he had the accent and slang down perfect. I am a white dude from LA and white boys who grew up with mexicans talk just like that. Bale was SPOT ON, no wigger what so ever
shareAmen SOMEBODY caught that! People should understand these terms BEFORE they use them. More than likely if you grow up around a group of people you may pick up their accents. I mean he spoke spanish(not very good though,i should know i'm panamanian,lol)and knew their slang.

There is no such thing as a "wigger" accent (I hate that stupid word, anyway---I think it's racist,too. Plus, it's been out of date since the '90s.) Bale's character acted more like a brother in the inner city than anything else and had an African-American accent and slang down down to a T ( I know because I'm African-American and have seen brothers who act and sound almost exactly like that, which is why I found both him and his friend hilarious to listen when they were running around posturing and doing goofy s***.) Also some white folks who have grown up in the inner city around black people act like that, too.
