this is gonna be quite specific, as most of the other FM boards i see all name the same players, so i'm gonna say a few american players that i've noticed after several seasons as DC United and the National Side:

Edson Buddle

Cherondulo (DR, dont remember first name)
Clint Mathis
Freddy Adu
Dema Kovalenko
Chicago also have several top quality players

Robinho and Adu are the two most promising players in FM, give Freddy Adu a season on loan somewhere and when he returns he is immense.
I think Torres is the greatest striker in the game though.

Best Player i've found that are young are:
GK: Frey, Igor Akinfeev, Ochoa, Lastukava & Cech.
CB:Vincent Kompany, Alex (PSV), Dellas, Bonera, King, Spector, Joao Fonseca, Rio Ferdinand, Carlos Henrique, Andre Bahia, Van Den Borre.
DMC: Freddy Guarin, Lucas Biglia, Alexandre Song, De Rossi (most of the good centre Backs i mentioned can play their aswell)
WGRS: Ronaldo, Wright-Phillips, Soloman Kalou, Joaquin Sanchez, Downing, Riccardo Montolivio, Carl Bradly.
AM: Diego(porto), D'assesandro, Adu, Robben, Ronaldinio, Georginio Boeateng, Lebohang Mokoena, Van der Vaart.
CF: Rooney, Torres, Tevez, Robinho, Diego(international), Bojinov, Hatem Ben Arfa, Roberto Carlos Carlos Jnr, Adriano, Guiesseppi Rossi, Arouna Kone.

Two good young players who can play on SM are Denillson and Joaquin. Sorry if misspelled. Vanden Borre is 16 already a great Right-Back.

god is french and plays up front for arsenal
Great players on bosmans at end of season are Van Bommel, Voronin and De Sanctis. All play well. A great striker on my Villa save is Nelson Haedo Valdez from Werder Bremen I think. he got 18 goals in 21 games afetr arriving in January. Eddie Gaven is a great young prospect and Alejandro Sanchez Fernandez from Perugia is a good youngster. check out Milan's under 20's as almost all are hot prospects. Also Liverpoool under 20's.

Well.. unlike you lot who manage the big teams, I am managing Grasshopper, and half way through first season, am through to the knockout round of Champ League (went through Prelims and a group that was Real, Rangers, Galatassary and me!).
The following are excellent for me:
GK Babacan Volkan (only 16)
DEF Vanden Borre (16), Graeme Owens (also 16), Tuomas Aho
MID Matuzalem,
ATT Ilhan Mansiz, Maciez Zurawski
Zurawski is on a season long loan and buying him in June - best player on FM2005 for me! Have managed Argyle in the prem and Zurawski was world player of year 3 years on trot!
