No offense, but they did a HORRIBLE job. In biology, if a predecessor has 4 limbs (like the prehistoric ragon with wings and legs), how is it possible that all remaining dragons through the rest of the cronology have 6 limbs? (wings, forelimbs, and hindlegs). Biologically impossible! Simply isn't how evolution works.

reply

Possibly a mutation?

Besides, the prehistoric dragons shown in this documentary were LAND dragons. The "modern" forest and mountain dragons evolved from SEA dragons, which had six limbs (hindlegs, forelegs and the finns on their backs).

reply

Wait, wait, wait...so a species can't develop an extra two limbs, but it can lose all of them? They can't develop an extra two limbs, but they can develop an extra two lungs? Sounds more than a little dubious to me.

This show is no more fictional than "Walking with Dinosaurs."

Why? It's just replication of one body segment. There are mutants with six or more limbs all the time.

reply

i do belive, no matter what u all think and i too i think they still exist somewhere today

I think that your all missing the point that this was a "what if" show. This show is supposed to present what someone thinks might have been real. Everyday people analyze cultural and physical structure and behaivor of creatures they don't know and have never seen. A lot of these things we take in as fact, but are no more than hypotheses. I'm not saying this show was fact, FAR FROM IT, and if you were looking for fact in something like this, then I don't know what to say to you, but it is interesting to see someones perspective on what it might've taken for dragons to live up to the stories we tell about them in our culture.

agreed..

but chinese myth holds up the fire dragon very highly whatever
we believe some twentieth century science facts have been
changed beyond belief
I think it's quaint that story rose from some god forsaken place
in the coldest parts of the earth
I was surprised to hear the facet about animals being able
to produce inflammable gases within their carcuse and
could certainly help flight wasn't that half a notion about
flying dinosaurs have frames not unlike the eurofighter
..not flight worthy

reply

Dont care what people think, I know that the show is fiction but still I do believe that dragons somehow exist, I dont really think that it is still there today, but in the past yes, i do believe. Think about it, almost evey civilization in the world has an animal that looks like a dragon. Well it is just my opinion, no offense, people can have difference ideas

reply

what about Pterodactyls there could have been a few of those left in olden times.. it is afterall a big flying lizard ;)

Then the part about firebreeding might just have been added to the mythos long after they where gone..

I believe there are few recent (last 50 years) eye witness accounts of these creatures.. if they are true or not, i can not say.

I’ll tell you this much…

I have an easier time believing this then I do Darwin’s Theory.
A very well produced & articulated theory.

Trust me,

I enjoyed the movie for its entertainment and the science explanations behind it make me think a dragon-like creature could have been possible.
