What Happened to the Daughter?

What ended up happening to the daughter in the end? The last thing we see is her drinking her own blood and then the soldiers carrying her away. Does this mean that she ended up becoming one of those monsters? Or did they, say, take her away and force her to drink human blood? I was just confused about what her fate was.

She dies. You see her being marched out into the sun (at least I think that was it, my memory is fuzzy) and then dying with all the other mutated ones. There was some distinguishing feature that let you know who she was once she had changed into one of the hairless bat things, but my memory, as I've said, is fuzzy.

You are correct. She is chained and dragged into the sunlight. You know that it is her due to her clothes, the way she grabs at Frankie , and an edit to her father looking at her picture during the sequence.

reply

Agreed. I thought that was a great scene. Not only did it show how awful Sam Neil's character became due to being a vampire but it also enlightened Frankie. Notice the look on his face as she was being dragged out into the sun? I think it was an enlightenening moment for Frankie.

It was the saddest part of the movie to me. it reminded me of a scene from a Holocaust movie. it was just sad watching all of those people who didn't have a choice being put on a deathmarch. especially Ally. the scene got to me for some reason.

the holocaust is as real as this movie

reply

It made me so angry. Here was a pretty little girl, and Frankie totally screwed her over. Look at how sadly she ended up.. But yeah now that you mention it, I think there was maybe a little tinge of sadness ini him standing, looking at Ally disappearing into ashes.

Well karma bit him in the ass, when the movie ended. (pun not intended)

I don't think he was bad because he was a vampire. I think he was bad because he was a Big Business money-grubbing scumbag. Although his cancer was cured and he was immortal, I don't think vampire or human mattered to him as much as being rich did.

reply

No, being Vampire mattered to him more than anything. He mentions that right in the movie that his prayers were answered by Vampirism and you can see by the look on his face when he realizes he is human again how important it was to him.

"Besides, what's to cure?"

that execution scene was so cruel. It made me mad at the vampires, that they would do such a thing. But basically, they turned into animals and had little morals left. I think the climactic scene where the successes waves of vampires keep feeding on each other showed that pretty well. they really were monsters, just like the daughter called her father.

reply

It was the power that he lived off. Vampirism only increased that power in the sense that he was immortal and immune from disease. His position as head of the corporation with the biggest 'blood bank' was the source of his power. And this fed into his power as a father, he wanted his daughter to be like him, even if he had to force her.

she was chained to the back of a vehicle and hauled by force to die in the light of day. She chose to drink her own blood rather then the blood rations offered her. She wanted to die.

Did you even watch the movie? Geez. Don't surf the Internet while watching a movie.

reply

Seriously, how can you not understand even ONE
THING that happens in this very routine movie??

reply

Did anyone answer your question? I thought it had to do with her turning. It was like she didn't turn into the human-looking vampire but went straight to the deformed and decaying vampire that results from not getting enough blood. I wasn't sure why that happened either.

Maybe I'll catch it again on tv on another day.

thankfully she died. she was annoying and the director tried way too hard to focus on how ''pretty'' she was, and sexualizing scenes with her in it.
