I had never heard of this movie before seeing it, so wasn't really expecting anything good from it, but all in all, i have to say I was quite surprised.
I don't recall really being scared while watching a movie any recently until i saw this one. I'm usually picky and most late american releases are either asian remakes (is there no creativity left nowadays?) or really crappy movies (most of them involving dead walking people or alien breeded women.. i mean wtf ? well, maybe i should stop watching movies randomly...)
Anyways, the main story was pretty ok, even if some things where obviously cliché when you think about it. While the acting performances were so-so, the directing wasn't bad at all. Most of the movie is shot in the dark, and whether you liked it or not, you HAVE to admit the effects are always put at the right time to scare the sh*t out of you.
It is not the movie of the year, but if you haven't heard of it, and are looking for a good scare, it will be a good weekend watch being a lot better than late crap releases.

its was mediocre.
like you said. You watched a lot of poor movies the weekend. This just happens to be a moderately poor film.
not recommended unless drunk and with alzhiemers as the story is shredded and rubbish
