This site is under attack!

This listing is under attack from the makers of “Bell Witch: The Movie” another film on the same subject that has not been released. All of the negative reviews and comment attacking the film as “the worst movie ever made” have all been made by the same person attempting to undermine “The Bell Witch Haunting”. Any review with the comment “This may contain spoilers” for example (I suppose they think people read those comments). We have received nothing but praise from people who have purchased the movie, the present owners of the Bell property and Pat Fitzhugh, who has written several books on the haunting; as well as, other movie reviewers. It is unfortunate for people that are interested in the story, that they are being falsely lead. Not everyone has liked everything about the film and that is fine, I did not expect them to. Although we did not make a perfect movie, all legitimate reviews have said it was well written and will be enjoyed by anyone who wants to find out about the legend of the Bell Witch. Reviews can be found on chillercinema.com, bellwitch.org, horror.com and other sites (none of these people are connected to the film). I am not sure why the creators of “Bell Witch: The Movie” have found it necessary to undermine and attack our film, but they obviously have more time than I do, so this will be my only response to the comments and false reviews which will, I’m sure, continue to be made, so this will be posted several times on this site. We have just finished editing and securing a distributor for our next project “Nightmares from the Mind of Poe”, but it will not be listed on IMDB and I regret listing this film. A lot of people worked hard on this project and they, nor the film, deserve these false remarks, and I have better things to do then answer them (like make films). We have also been asked by the City Of Adams (where the haunting took place) to perform our play on the Bell Witch (which the film was based on) in Adams. They contacted us after seeing the film and were very complementary. So the production will be performed this October on part of what was the Bells actual property (with some of John Bells direct descendants involved). I’d say that is a pretty good endorsement. Anyone interested in the Bell Witch, if you do not buy the film or even if you do, I suggest purchasing one of the books, it is truly the most amazing ghost story ever. Thanks for your interest and God Bless! - Ric White, director, “The Bell Witch Haunting”

As Jesus Christ as my witness. I do not know anyone connected to the other Bell Witch Movie. I watched this movie with several other people and they were all surprised that the element of horror and film quality were not there. This is the God's honest truth. About two months later a girl I know brought her friend who is a film student over. The girl told him of my large collection of movies. He looked at them. Low and behold while he was previewing some of them. The copy of the Bell Witch Haunting was laying beside our DVD player. He said he wanted to preview it. He said they had a book in his library about it back when he was in High School. We let him know our feelings about it. He was also surprised by the poorly made feature. I am not trying to run anyone down for their efforts. I just think the film doesn't do the Legend of the Bell Witch justice. I mean it wasn't scary like what I had gathered from all the books. I think if everyone watched this movie. It would ruin future works put out about the Bell Witch Legend. In the sense of people not taking the story seriously because of the large amount of comedy involved with this picture. I think you picked a great subject. If I get a chance. I am going to write a reviewer from a film magazine. I am going to ask them to view my copy of your movie and enter a comment on this site and list their opinion. I will have them list exactly who they write for. I don't think someone would have to attack this film. It attacks itself. I think the other Director should be upset and feel his film is being attacked. They are confusing your movie with his and trashing his film out and if I am not mistaken. It hasn't even come out yet. There is also an advertisement to sell yours on his sight. So who are saying is being attacked?

I admire anybody that can make a movie. Nevertheless, I was a bit surprised to see that my somewhat negative but pretty innocuous review of this movie was reported as "abuse", something that has never happened to me before. Now I understand a little (I guess). I wouldn't assume, however, that EVERY negative review is sabotage by your competitor (I have never even heard of the other "Bell Witch" movie). This is actually one of the better DIY I've seen since the early 90's when I took a much more active interest in the niche market (and god knows I've been personally involved in some REALLY bad DIY movies)--I was just comparing it unfavorably to "Cannibal-the Musical" and "Deathbed-the Bed that Eats". If your movie wasn't at least somewhat interesting to me, I wouldn't have bothered to write a review of it.

The problem with the DIY market is that life is short and there is A LOT of garbage in it. If you can't rely on this website to sort through it because overly-sensitive filmmakers are going to report any negative reviews as "abuse", everyone is going to be the poorer for it. Congratulations on your movie. Whatever it was "Bell Witch Haunting" certainly wasn't a waste of your time (or mine). I hope you develop a little thicker skin but you keep making movies.
