I just found out Big Budget Studio does the Bell Witch Story w/big stars

Big studio does the Bell Witch story starring Sissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland. It is called an American Haunting. I haven't seen it. The names in the cast may give you a hint of what it could be like. Considering Donald Sutherland and Sissy Spacek's background. Just to let everyone know who were let down by the other productions.

"Big stars" doesn't necessarily mean "better movie".
We'll see.

Refusal to believe does not negate the truth.

I was right. An American Haunting blows, and has very little to do with the legend.

You are very right American Haunting is a big let down. I really thought that if Hollywood got a hold of this one it would be a masterpiece. But they just couldn't get it right. The real problem with people trying to film this story is that they want to add things in it that weren't there. American Haunting and Bell Witch Haunting both added things that didn't exist in the original story. If they would stick to the real story I think it would work better. The child molestation thing in American Haunting was stupid. To tell the truth I have never seen any film on this that could live up to the original story. The Bell Witch ordeal is a fascinating story and I think with the right person supervising a project on it could have a major success with it. The kind of success I am talking about is getting the real story across. I am not trying to put anyone down. I appreciate their hard work.

Yea, I saw An American Haunting and I have to say I was truly let down by the movie.

Especially the incest storyline. I know the writer/director was just putting in HIS take on what caused the problems, but why go that route?!? There is NO documented stuff to suggest John Bell had any odd interests in his daughter, so why imply it??

Yes, I know it has been implied before, but not many people have heard of the story (I had not before I watched the movie), so they, if they are not the kind of people like I am that like investigating "based on true events", will just accept that as the way it went.

Ah well.
