MR. HELL

Freddy is no match for MR. HELL!

ummm... Other than the fact that that was completely random and not related to anything... Ummm... maybe I'm judging it too early, but I saw the first episode of Mr. Hell and was disapointed. It seems to be nothing new or exciting. We have seen loads of shock value cartoons now and putting it in a variety show format doesn't really make it unique. If I want shock I'll just watch another South Park and pick up the subliminal political comentary along with the shock. But since this is supposed to be about Freddy I'll talk about that instead. Ya know, like your supposed to on the part of the site dedicated to Freddy...
Some folk have already mentioned their problems with the directors vision of Jason. I agree, I think it would have been better if he had been more firmiliar with the character. For one thing the whole sympathy thing was completely wrong. Kane Hodder as Jason has always had a look of rage in his eyes, not of poor me I'm a misunderstood angst ridden teen. He also seems to have meade up the idea of Jason being physically deformed as a child. None of the flashbacks in 1-9 suggest a deformity. I assume he got this from one of two places. The first being in Jason Takes Manhatten (prob spelled wrong) where we see him as a child after being hit by the flood of sewage. This is the first time we have any indication of him being physically handicapped. I saw this more as the body of him as a child was mucked up by the sewage. The other posibility is from Jason X where the writers portrayed Jason as a disfigured living person. This is simply wrong. Jason became disfigured by first spending a good chunk of his life at the bottom of a lake and then spending a good chunk of time between F13 4 and F13 6 burried in a graveyard. that is why he is deformed, not due to birth. So as the director of JvsF tries to make us want to root for Jason he should go back and watch the movies of the two series and see that Freddy was actually the one with the tormented childhood (thanks to Alice Cooper playing the stepdad) not Jason. His mother does refer to him as being "special" (F13 1)but to me that implies that he was an idiot who would drown if he isn't being watched, not that he was physically deformed. But other than mucking up the history of Jason and not having Hodder play him it was an entertaining movie. (would have liked to see return characters though) Survivor lists include Tommy from F13 4,5,6 Jesse from Nightmare 2, that chick from Nightmare 4 and 5. Freddy's daughter from 6, Jason's Neice from 9, that psychic chick from F13 7. All of which would have made nice cannon fodder for gorey deaths.

From what I have heard Jason was always supposed to be deformed dating back to childhood. I am not sure where I heard it for sure, but I think it was from the information on the Jason X specials about Jason. I remember something about makeup being on the young kid when they filmed the drowning scene, but due to the lighting it is hard to tell. I will have to check on it though.

The only one Freddy is no match for is Nightmare, the Marvel comics Dr. Strange villain. Freddy has more style, but clearly Nightmare is more powerful at doing the same job.

None of the flashbacks of Friday 1-9 suggest a physical deformity? Nearly all of them suggest a physical deformity.
