i'm a HUGE kristy wu fan; i absolutely adore the girl. so i just have to defend her. lol.
i gotta agree though, that i love kristy's acting way better later on in the series.
i guess it's 'cause the character's waaay different than the stuff she usually plays. trust me, she CAN act.
usually she does more darker, rebellious roles (buffy, face, return to halloweentown, cry_wolf), and she's AWESOME in those. especially in return to halloweentown and cry_wolf, in my opinion.
i love Melissa, as a character, though.

Yeah, I like Melissa too. I think ppl didn't like her at the beginning cause she was kind of "too nice" and sweet. I think she's a really good actress and was my favorite girl on the show.
I actually think everyone in the show did a really good job in their roles.
Yeah, Melissa's my favorite character over everyone in the show, honestly. She's seriously underrated.
But I do love everyone's acting in the show, no question. Especially Lauren.. chick's freakin' hilarious.

i used to think she was a really bad actress
and then i saw her in an interview and in some of her other roles and she is SO DIFFERENT from melissa
that it made me see her as someone who most certainly COULD act because she's so not that whiny. xD

she over-acts the whole whiny thing..
I dunno why but everytime i watch flight29down, I never see Corbin,Kristy,Johnny,Jeremy,Halee,Lauren,and Allen.
I always see nathan,melissa,jackson,erick,taylor,and lex.
My point is : IT'S LIKE they're not acting at all.
The best thing about the series is that.
They make the characters alive. and whenever they talk to each other, it's like REAL....
They have a really good chemistry with each others... A really good one, I must say.

I agree, I seriously have to remind myself that it's just a show. The acting is so natural and you never feel that they're just "saying" their lines.
shareWu is fantastic....really a fantastic actor. This role was a weird one for her since she usually does heavier, more dramatic stuff. However, I can see people not thinking she did a great job in this role because her character is so light and fluffy, and, therefore, a little hard to give credit towards. Melissa's is VERY unlike Kristy's personality, which, I think tells ya, she did a solid job acting as that character.
shareI never thought anything was wrong with her acting, she's my favorite, I think she did wonderful! Everything else I've seen her in, is completely different then Melissa, so I'm sure it was a bit hard for her a first, but she did great! How's Kristy's personality??

definitely more confident and speaks her mind. she's not so like.. innocent, either. i mean, not in a bad way -- lol! -- but like, melissa's really really innocent and kristy's not as.. well, you know what i mean.
she seems really intellectual, too, which is awesome.

Don't check the message boards often, so sorry in getting back so late. Those who have chimed in are right. Wu is much more strong and confident. She's also just super cool. She's like the Fonzie of modern asian gals in their 20s.
The big thing that wasn't said yet is that she's very laid back while her character's a bit high-strung (which leads to all the little mistakes she makes).
I love Flight 29 Down, and I saw Cry_Wolf and loved it, but i could hardly tell it was the same person. Kristy Wu is a good actress, but i don't like character of Melissa.
