I HATE when people say F29D is a wannabe Lost

When it came Before

It didn't come before Lost, but if by some small chance it did, there seems to be a huge lack of proof. F29D began airing on TV in October 2005 whereas Lost began airing September 2004 and the concept for Lost was being pitched to ABC back in 2003 which is mentioned in the official Lost book: The Lost Chronicles from pages 19-20. The 2003 timeline is also mentioned in an unofficial book called Finding Lost, but it didn't start to seriously get off the ground until January 2004. On the otherhand, I've never seen any information detailing exactly when F29D was created. Wikipedia makes no mention of this information, neither does the official F29D section at the Discovery Kids site or IMDB.com.

Wikipedia has mentioned this! The IDEA for F29D came before and Im sure that if it was a copy the creaters of Lost wouldve filed a lawsuit by now.

I think Lost and Flight 29 Down are totally different. Lost has a lot to do with supernatural mysteries, while Flight 29 Down is more about survival. If people are going to say Flight 29 Down is a Lost rip-off, they might as well call it a Gilligan's Island rip-off as well.

Yer right, they are compleatly different. I don't watch Lost, but I know it isn't kids, I know they are there for much longer, I know some people die, and I'm fairly sure they have more hatred for the people they're there with.

They ripped off a lot of things that happen in Lost and just made it into a crappy childrens show. It's lazy, uncreative, uninspiring, and its fans are downright stupid.

i am a huge lost fan, a lot more then 29D and yes there are a lot of similarities. like.. they land on an island, they each have a "gift" that is used to their advantage, they find more people from there plane in different parts of the island. the filming locations are different.

but.. they are about different techniques of survival. i'd say F29D is more like lord of the flies then anything, it's about a group of young people, landing on an island, and have natural causes as their enemy.

lost, has unnatural sources as their enemy, they have another group of people, they have monsters, and lot's of deaths following everything.

one thing i like about F29D is the fact that it's not as fictatious as "hannah montana" or some other recent kids shows, it doesn't have bad acting for something that is aired on family channel, and it's entertaining.

the thing i like about lost is the fact that every character has a different background and you get to see a glimpse and see their lives before they were on the plane, and it's not just a conversation, it always keeps you guessing.

they both have very strong qualities about both of them, and the targeted audiences are different as well. which may be why some people claim it's a "lost ripoff" but a few similarites is just that.

There's nothing you can do about it.

On one of the DVD's there is an interview with D.J. MacHale. He says the original concept of the show was to have 29 adults all stranded on an island, but then Lost came out so he changed up the idea to make it a kids show. So I guess you could call it a "rip off" of Lost, but I'd say it's just a version for that's better for kids to watch.

there's only so many original concepts in the world

being stranded is one of them
deal with it

i suppose everything related to something beforehand is a ripoff

I caught part of an episode on TV, kind of hard not to think "Lost for Kids" when you see it. Kind of a huge coincidence it came out a year after Lost. Most kids shows aren't in production years ahead..

It sure had a better finale than Lost!

And before the two of them was Gilligans Island and the new people.
