Nicole and Shar

I hate it when they have people within their normal BMI range on the show. Did Nicole even think she could stand a chance at winning since she would have to be 95 pounds to lose the same percentage as the chunky ones? So they promote annorexia? Even Shar (although thicker than Nicole) was in a normal BMI to begin with. All the two of them needed was some toning up.

I enjoy this season but next time let's see some actually clinically OVERWEIGHT...

This show is not just about losing weight. It's about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and changing bad habits. Just because they're not overweight doesn't make them unqualified. Getting fit isn't just about your physical apperance.

Yes and no... Is it healthy to promote losing weight when you are in a healthy weight range though? They ride them when they don't lose weight so it is A LOT about the weight loss.

And I get your about them changing the bad habits but that certainly did not work with Nicole... : D

reply

Well, you have a point about them riding them, but both Shar and Nicole had some flab on them they needed to lose. Yeah, they're not as overweight as the others, but they also weren't as fit as they should / could be. Just my two cents.

In my opinion-Jay and Kevin were perfect examples of two "overweight" indiviuals who actually stuck to the food/physcial regimens-it was sooo close between them when they did the "weigh in"-they both consistley met or went BEYOND their weight goals. And it SHOWED on the finale show!

CONGRATS to them BOTH!!!

And Kaycee/Tanisha were the perfect examples for the females-it would have been great if they lost their target weight as well. Kaycee was always a good sport and team player. Tanisha obviously had her "issues".

This was the first time I actually saw ALL the episodes-this was definitely a interesting cast this season!

This is a general post for this thread, but for the record BMI is truly inaccurate as a way of judging health, and half the time isn't considered anymore. Finally even though we've been used to overweight celebrities this show is still called Celebrity FIT Club not Celebrity Weight Loss Club.

reply

Ok, you all talked me into it being more of a getting fit show instead of about weight loss.

Everyone wears their weight differently though but I disagree about someone being chubby in their normal BMI. If it's not an accurate portrayel of a healthy weight then what is?

if you understood bigworm72_99's post above you you'd understand.
IMHO, BMIs are just a small part of fitness -- much like weight loss

I agree that BMI has little to do with a person's level of Fitness. I was disagreeing that someone in a normal BMI range is "chunky." It was a different poster than bigworm72_99.

reply

You could possibly still be chunky, because the BMI is just about weight and height. So your weight to height could be normal but maybe the fat is all in your stomach or another area.
