Biggest Issues with Krrish

I saw this movie when it first came out in 2006. At first glance I kinda liked it cause I saw it with my kid brother who just loved it and while I was trying to be enthusiastic for his benefit I ended up clouding my judgment. However later on when I saw the movie on DVD I realized how horrible it was. There are certain rules to making a superhero movie. You can change the format and make it a flash back or have two movies in one with one story showing the "Present" and many other flashbacks showing how the hero was made or you can follow the usual manner. But in the end a superhero movie needs certain parts that are vital for it.

A) Define the man beneath the mask. Focus on the man before he got his abilities or in this case before he realizes that he has to HIDE his abilities. But make sure you don't focus on him at the expense of the progression of the story or else the main point of the story will be lost.

B) Define the abilities. You may show him have abilities from the start (Like Superman) or you may show the origins story (Spider-man I, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Batman Begins etc). But no matter where you start from you have to give the viewer a clear idea as to what are the strengths and weaknesses of our hero.

C) Keep the romance to a minimum. Every hero has a Damsel in distress. But the focus should not be on his romance with the damsel. It should be a sub plot. A side story and most definitely not the sole focus.

Now lets compare that with Krrish:

1) Way too much focus on Krishna and very less focus on Krrish to the point that the story writers had to add in a pointless helicopter chase sequence where he runs like a retard all over the city and some cases it looks less like a chase and more like an exercise drill.

2)Krrish abilities have not at all been defined. Does his strength lie in his mind like Batman? or is it physical? If physical what is the limit to his strength and what are his weaknesses. Superman has Kryptonite, Spider-man has his family and friends, Iron Man's weakness is Tony Stark the man behind the suit himself and alcohol. But Krrish? He can walk through a Mountain and a FRIKKIN THICK metal wall into a lab with not so much as a scratch but then security guards will hit him with bates and a gas cylinder and he goes down like a punk? How fast is he really? What is limit to his strength? what are his weaknesses? Not defined.

3) Too much romance. I mean we got him trying to hit on her, then impress and then get betrayed by her. I mean c'mon, why d'ya think Spiderman 3 sucked? cause it had too much drama.

4) Weak writing. The villain is said to have TIGHT SECURITY. And his security instead of being skilled fighters turns out to be lame martial artists and mall cops with bates in their hands and a Lurch with a gas cylinder?

AND MY BIGGEST BIGGEST BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH KRRISH?

5) WTF IS HE DOING IN HONG KONG? THIS IS INDIA'S FIRST SUPERHERO IN MORE THAN A DECADE SINCE MR. INDIA. SHOULDN'T HE BE SAVING LIVES IN BOMBAY OR DELHI OR SOMETHING? I MEAN REALLY....WTF?

maybe your point are valid,

but your last point is CRAP

1. he is in singapore

2. he wasnt there to be a HERO, he was there to initially to impress a girl and then to SAVE his dad, he didnt goto any indian city coz he wasnt going out to be superman or spiderman...

as such krrish isnt a crime fighter, he is just a super powered individual with family problems...

that kinda makes him unique in the lets save the world formulae!

Sorry mate! Doesn't make him unique in any manner of speaking. Spider-man beat him to it 50 years ago by the being 'the first super powered individual with REALISTIC family and friend problems.'

And I dunno if you've noticed, but the first criticism most of us Indians have against any sci-fi movie is "Ye saalay angrez apnay aapko samjhtay kya hain? Sab kuch jaisay America mein hota hai."
There is a reason for that. They are proud of their country and aren't afraid to show it.

I do agree with one bit, my point COULD be crap. I'm only human and these are just opinions. BUT your reasoning for the crappiness of my point isn't valid.
My issue with him not being in India is not with a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. Its with the writers. They WROTE the damn story. If they can set it in singapore or Hong Kong they can set it in India.

P.S: Try not to reply for another 4 days. I'm kinda busy. I only wanna waste me time arguing on the net when I'm absolutely bored. Cheers!

sorry dude, only 2 days gone by, but this argument aint a flame war, which I respect...

you do have a point as to why the writers jjust didnt set it in delhi noida or mumbai, I guess they wanted the movie to feel more

1 international than it really was

2 stylized, and one thing indian cities lack, is style...

what my point was, he doesnt go thr to be a hero anyways, so its doesnt matter if he was in bangalore or singapore! if he became a spidy type crime fighter, out of india, then it would have sucked!
