DEFINE CRAZY...

I agree. I thought it tried waaaay too hard.

Live, live, live! Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!

reply

Wasn't this a scene from Chungking Express?

reply

And the point of this film was...?

Answers on a postcard, please.

reply

very tacky I should say

reply

would of been okay if not directed by Tony Scott and his crappy stupid flashy camera angles.

reply

Geez. The shirt the boy wears gets its own credit (great performance, orange Victorinox tee). The Fossil watch, the HP digital camera... the purpose of this film must be to showcase products you can order online at amazon.com. Maybe this is where commercials are headed in the years to come.

reply

[deleted]

Yeah I deffinitly think this was just a comercial for amazon.com I noticed logos all over the place. I dont think it was too too bad though because I liked the camera angles.

reply

Sure it was a commercial, but it was artistically lacking, compared to the other films in the collection.

reply

still waiting for it to download but it does sound very chunking express-ish.

reply

i thought it was very post-modern, and a clever appropriation (ads notwithstanding). i especially liked the "happily ever after" flash at the end and the use of colour. the jerky camera did get a bit irritating though.

thanx for the link, I got directed here because I was looking for Jessica Stam ^^

reply

You're welcome :)
Where else did you hear about Jessica Stam? There's no credit for her except for this one!

She is a supermodel.

Without sound, this film is a pure jumble. Yet it also bothers me that clouds going "whoosh" makes the film coherent and supposedly hip.

reply

I understand why some people wouldn't like this short. It does go very far away from anything resembing traditional filmmaking. I for one love this little flick. Since it's a short, and Tony Scott has no restraint to his imagniation/lunacy, there are no rules that can be applied to it. You can basically do anything you can think of in a medium like this with such a simple story. So if you're gonna make a short about a girl in orange, a boy in a subway station, and a goldfish in a bag; this is the way to do it.

reply

So crappy.

Who was that boy -- his son? You don't have average looking people in film -- it's scientific film fact (unless you're creating a gritty real life drama like Breaking the Waves, even then they can't look too ugly or they can but there has to be one or two decent lookers, there even is in Mike Lee films.) :D

reply

typical tony scott. a little too fast for my taste, but i still liked it

reply

Thank you for the link. :)

reply

Thank you for putting up the link. It is hard to find short films, this one wasn't very good, but being a Tony Scott fan...I am glad to have viewed it.

reply

I am an aspiring film-maker myself. I am downloading as I type this. If you enjoy short films perhaps you may enjoy this short film that I made recently:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NixUM5ieKN0
it is called "Darkness" and is a short trhiller set in Russia. Pay attention and look out for the clues pasted in the film as the film has a peculiar ending.
