About 'Bob Dylan'

They spent so much time on doing Edie and Andy good(and they are) they kind of forgot about the rest.

Bob would never act or talk like that. Anyone who's seen Don't look back, or just knows. knows that.

He would never wear that stupid hat. Or show up at a gallery and make a scene. It's all for the movie, I know that, they needed a love affair and drama, but he acted so stupid, when they're at the café for example: as if he wouldn't understand art, as if only Edie understood the meaning of art....and Hayden sits there with SUCH BAD imitation of his voice and all.

I wanted to kill myself. I can do a better voice, imitation and portrayal.
Who allowed him to act this bad. It's a joke compare to Sienna Miller or Guy Pearce

And it annoys me that people that don't know Dylan watches the movie and get's this idea of him. I mean....god..

And that girl who played Nico, what was up with her. Nico would never sound so slow or look like she came from the 90's. Her make up was all wrong. And can I even mention the scene with the olsen girl. that was just....

I'd do better casting than that. The only ones I'd keep is Sienna and Pearce.

anyway, just had to get this out.

I completely agree with you. I came on this board specifically to rant about Hayden Christensen. Heck, I even hate Christensen play himself! He's just so painfully bad! He spoiled the new Star Wars films for me. And seeing him trying to play Bob Dylan was just too bad. I suppose they didn't know that Cate Blanchett is the only person in the industry who can "imitate" bob dylan. I actually thought that the producers of this film didn't have enough money to make a better casting decision. But no, they actually did have money and cast christensen because he must have been "hot property" back then. whatever do people see in him.

Some of us do see a lot of potential in Hayden and his abilities. You both do realize that Harvey Weinstein had as much of an iron grip on FG as Lucas did on the SW franchise, right? To blame Hayden for your disappointment in the SW prequels is completely misplaced. You may not realize that Hayden did NOT want to portray Anakin that way, but Lucas would not allow him to play it any other way. Hayden may not be the best actor ever, and a lot of that is due to lack of experience which is self inflicted, but to place all the blame on him for his part in a movie/movies where producers and directors should also be held accountable is not realistic.

Aww, come on...

Yeah I'm not putting it all on Hayden. The casting directors, the director, all of them did a terrbile job on his part.

I disagree about Andy. Just watch his interviews, he was so much different from what you see in the movie. Also, why couldn't they find a good slavic actor? Guy Pearce is so painfully wrong for the part in terms of the looks... Not to mention the movie depicts Warhol a sick vampire, I mean Udo Kier looked more like Warhol in Blood For Dracula.

I understand Warhol was no saint, but Factory Girl is making him one-dimensional, egomaniacal, cheap, no-talent queer, which is very sad if you ask me...

reply

He was a no-talent, evil little queer.

Christiansen wasn't playing Dylan, he was playing a Dylan-esque character which is why he doesn't have the same voice, clothing, etc. Before the movie even came out, Dylan threatened to sue because he has repeatedly denied he was romantically involved with Edie or was the cause of her downfall. That's why the character is named Billy Quinn (or whatever...too lazy to look it up). All the filmmakers could do was hint that Quinn was Dylan or they would have been sued.

Any relationship Edie had with Dylan was likely in her mind. I think Dylan probably did toy with her to some degree but I don't think they had a full on romance like the film claims. She was involved with Dylan's best friend Bob Neuwirth. He's not as well known or, I suppose, all that interesting so the filmmakers took the Bob Dylan thing and ran with it.

I totally agree. I just came to this board to see if anyone agrees and I was sure that there would be plenty of people who would. That portrayal really ruined the movie for me.

You really do your homework, warhol's 3 minute "screen tests" are a compilation of all the interviews from the factory. Oh and who is there, Bob Dylan. So he was there. Also, if you can't see the association of "rolling stone" with Edie, you're not looking very hard. Cheers

I came here, to imdb, to see whether anyone else was appalled by the guy playing Dylan. The movie had so much potential--but it really shat the bed. And this "character" was the nail in the coffin.
