Based on looks

MY reaction to this movie may seem superficial, but I can't get beyond the observation that she is just not very good-looking. I don't mean "movie star" beauty. I mean just ordinary attractiveness. If I saw this girl on the street or at a party I would describe her as mousy, plain, not sexually attractive. Her hair is raggedy, her expression is morose, her body is flabby and unfit.
When he makes her undress in front of the long windows he say "I want to see how beautiful you are." Then he just stares at her and doesn't say a word. He doesn't say "how beautiful you are," or "I love your breasts,'' or "my what a fine bush!" Nothing at all. She is so humiliated that she turns her face to the wall and cries. And still he says nothing except "Come over here."
The whole premise of the movie, so far, has been two young people falling in lust. Falling in love may come later, but it never does, partly because the lust doesn't even work.

It's interesting you say that, I didn't find her very attractive, but my boyfriend thought she looked really good! I think she had a nice body but the hair and the teeth and her expression were exactly like you said. (Also interesting that the actress modeled in the past)

I first caught this movie right as she asked him about getting a dog, and I thought that he seemed like such an ass, then I realized she was a brat. I really didn't like either of them, nor did I find them attractive, but honestly I think it didn't work because they really didn't know each other.

don't worry you're not being shallow, i couldn't help but think of howdy doody. maybe hair and makeup and better clothes would've helped!

I think Julianne Nicholson looked great in this film. It's just a matter of opinion, and not all men are attracted to the same look in a woman.
