when we first see him, he is casually drinking cider anyway, but then in his death scene he says he wants cider, speaking as if its something he never actually had, and then to add to that, he gets fed some gloopy black *beep* what was that all about, it had me confused

He did that particular job for the cider. It's not that he had never had cider, but that he did it for the cider.
