Location!

Just finished watching the thoroughly enjoyable Kidnapped. However, I was never at ease with the locations. The mountains were too big, and every one of them had snow on them. Fine for Middle Earth, but never Scotland. Oh well, another big tick for the New Zealand Tourist Board.

I completely agree. Not just the mountains, but the colours of grass and rocks and everything just didn't look right. And the weather was too good! And the plot took some strange directions towards the end... But Iain Glen was a brilliant Allan Breck Stewart.

I agree as well. The light was totally wrong along with the landscape. Iain Glen was fabulous (no surprises), but the story...what happened? The dialogue was over loaded with (unnecessary and out of place) information for the uninformed viewer. I loved the book and had such high hopes that were dashed when Davie asked the woman in the Hawes Inn what a Jacobite was! There is NO way he would not know in 1751, five short years after Culloden, with the effects still being very much felt, what a Jacobite was. Davie from then on seemed to be quite dense, asking stupid questions to inform the (younger perhaps) audience of the details of Scottish history. Still it cannot be any worse than the Great Pretender threatens to be!
