OK... Seriously... WTF?

Umm... just found this and am excedingly scared...
Will this be released in the UK at anytime? Am perversely intrigued... Would watch it (would need subtitles as am linguistically challenged...)

AAnyone out there got any clues?

I'm afraid that it only will be shown in switzerland but I hope that it will be released in other countrys too.

The movie will only be released in Switzerland, hopefully. It isn't funny at all, the jokes are bad or a hundred years old. I ask myself, if the movie we did at school didn't offer much more scenes to laugh...

So this is definitely the worst movie I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot...).

well i guess it will be released in germany, austria and switzerland of course. but i really don't know if it will made it to non-german-speaking countrys.

i can'T imaging this being funny, i will watch it maybe on dvd, but won't watch it in cinema

reply

Movie will be released in Germany and Austria in Spring 2005.

No englisch-Version planned. Maybe the DVD will be available with english subtitles.

But its a very poor movie. Together with "White Chicks" the baddest I've seen this year....

I haven't seen the movie yet, but for what I've read and trailers I've seen (not to mention the music video), it's pretty much exclusively made for Swiss people, since a lot of the joke are typically Swiss, and Swiss German at that (and to be fair, some are just jokes that everyone will get).

I see it almost as one Swiss director wanting to make a spoof "just for fun" (a la Evil-Dead, if you wish) and the project somehow got out of hand and got sponsors, money and marketing. I don't think (imho) that it was originally meant to be released outside Switzerland since the whole premise is to indirectly make fun of Swiss culture within the confine of the LOTR saga. Well, that's how I see it anyway.

In other words, if you don't know anything about the Swiss, it's probably not that funny. It'll probably look like a bunch of amateurish actors poking fun at LOTR and doing VERY STRANGE things. And if you're Swiss...well, I guess that depends on your sense of humour, but you'll probably get most of the jokes. Whether you laugh or not, that's for another post...

I must admit that the most impressive thing to me was the marketing. Top notch.

This is just a normal spoof, like any other coming from Hollywood, just with a many times smaller budget. So what? I had to laugh many times, because it was just plain stupid, like in any other spoof...

whatever you said down there in german or swiss-german sounds kinda weird

anyway i didn't see the movie and i really think that this was the most stupid idea one could have to make a spoof of LOTR!!!!!

Especially coz it's from Switzerland where no movies are famous at all!

anyway your swiss as you said and if you like it then you shall but i don't want to see it at all coz it's just a silly idea to do this stuff!

"anyway i didn't see the movie and i really think that this was the most stupid idea one could have to make a spoof of LOTR!!!!!"
You obviously haven't spent much time around this little thing called the internet, because is you had, then you would know that we have LotR spoofs and parodies falling out of our ears.
If there are so many, then the people who make them and write them have to be doing something right.

Anyway, I've seen trailers, and it looks really good to me. Shame I can't understand swiss-german or know enough about the swiss to understand the jokes.

this movie just stinks! it was horrible to watch it. fortunately a friend of mine had it on dvd, i would have never paid for such a crap! not funny at all, not the jokes nor anything. poor acting makes it even worse. sad chapter in swiss film making, no wonder the government cuts on film money. sad, sad, sad.

reply

I thought it was really amusing!! Maybe you just have to relax and smoke another joint and then watch it again... it'll be fun then I'm sure! ;-)

btw: this thread really really really proves that Swiss people speak English sooo badly!! It embarrasses myself to say I'm Swiss myself...

Switzerland Rocks!

Yesterday it was released in germany (random movie, you don't know what film is shown).
Just one word - terrible ^^

never ever watch, unless you want to commit suicide by mindrape.

i'm swiss, and this movie should never have seen the light of day.

reply

i watched this movie some time ago, and i had a smoke or two.
there was no humorous feeling coming up, it was more something like hate and the desperate wish to die, because of spending money in the most stupid way you could imagine...the ring thing.
i honestly don´t remember if there was a joke in it that i hadn´t heard in kindergarten or 1st grade (and those jokes weren´t funny at this time either).

there are funnier things to do in the time you could watch the ring thing, like cleaning your windows, carrying out the garbage or just watching the old lady living next to you sitting on her balcony reading.

I got the movie from a friend and borrowed it to watch it cause I've heard of it. But I didn't know it is actually that crazy... I'm from Germany, and I have some problems with the swiss-german, but somehow it is funny...some jokes made me laugh, but there is loads of stupid stuff in it. It's unbelievable that you can buy it on DVD (who spends money for something like that??) but to watch it just for fun with some bottles of beer it's ok :-)

Honestly, this movie is bad. I mean, realy, realy, mindbogglingly, debilitating bad. You get spontanous eyeball cancer just from whatching this movie.

I did get a free copie of the DVD, since I know the people producing the dreck, and even then I did pay too much. There go two houres I wont get back in this live.

There are certain (few) scenes that are realy quite funny if watched as an isolated 5 min movie clip or taken as a simple sketch, but actually this is not enough to make a feature length movie out of.

Well, the Movie is funny under three simple conditions:

1. You have to know the original LOTR-Movie (obviousely)

2. You should be native Swiss german speaker. Under no circumstances you should watch the German dubbed version, most of the humor (or what passes for humor) is lost in translations.

3. You have to be completely stoned / drunk / under influence of whatever is the mindaltering substance of your choice. If you are drunk / stoned / whatever enough, almost anything will be funny.
