Lincolns' Motives

When I was watching Stone Cold tonight, I was receiving phone calls left and right, so maybe I missed it. But could anyone who has seen the entire movie or read the book please clarify WHY the Lincolns committed the murders they did and what exactly was the process behind choosing the victims, if any reason/process was given at all?

Thanks in advance!

There was no reason given, and acording to Tom Selleck in a bonus feature I saw, that's the way it was supposed to be, he gave a illustration of the D.C. snipers; no-one really knew why they shot people.

As for the process, I think they just picked the ones they liked the look of.

Hope this helps.

At first the victims were selected purely at random, but when they noticed Chief Stone's interest in them, random turned personal, and they began killing the people that Stone was interested in, e.g., his female 'pal'.

Thanks for your input, everyone!

Almost ten years on, but I thought I'd give you my impression anyway.

We are first introduced to the Lincolns as they are having sex. They then discuss who they are stalking, and it becomes obvious, they intended to cause their target harm. I got the distinct impression that "Brianna" used this for sexual arousal and by having "Andy" choose the victim she became even more aroused. This was their foreplay.

Watta ya lookn here for?
