Best drama on TV over the Christmas period and far superior to the Branagh "it's all about me" version. I do prefer Krister but the younger, more bear-like Wallander portrayed here certainly gives him a run for the money.
shareI didn't like the first one shown 'The Man Who Smiled' (what an annoying ending!) and so wasn't in any hurry to watch the others I recorded. But once I got around to viewing I have enjoyed them much more, 'Brandvägg (Firewall)', and this one 'Stegert efter' (One Step Behind) despite the fact I'd already seen the Branagh adaptations these were different enough to keep me watching (even if they were shown out of sequence). I still prefer Krister's older wiser Wallander, but Rolf's a close second.
Does anyone know if BBC4 are going to screen any more?
And months later they are repeating them....thank goodness.
For me this is the best Wallander.....Krister was the definitive Wallander with Sweden actually being the star in it.
Then came Branagh (please don't get me started on that) came in as a very poor second until I saw these and was blown away.
There is something about the sheer physicality of this Rolf that comes across just right.
As to any more....I do hope so.
