What does maynard say right after he sits down in the sheriff's office with wilk. The sheriff tells him to go look for a cow and maynard says "shoot sheriff, ?????" Anybody figure out what he said there?

He says "Shoot Sheriff, "Heat of the Night" is comin on." He's referring to the tv show.
