I realize your post is 5 years old but I just saw this short last night so here I am.
Yes, the Sheriff killed Priscilla all those years ago. Being that this thing was only about 35 minutes long I really wish they would have added 10 more minutes to fill us in on the back story there but it is what it is.
As for what was Maynard's character good for? To get people to watch it! That's the truth. If I had seen the description of the movie and saw it had Ed Asner and Brad Wilk I would have passed. Of course once I saw MJK in the credits I immediately added it to my Netflix queue. I suspect most of us watched it to see Maynard and I suspect the people who made the short knew MJK would draw viewers. Maynard didn't disappoint either, not a shred of the real MJK showed through! I really hope he does some more acting.
