Sci-fi should really....

start showing the older movies on their channel. I don't know about you, but I currently have no copy of any of the puppet master movies and it would be nice to see those films again.

reply

Have they ever shown the first five on TV? Didn't Paramount throw those films in the closet and lock them away? I know Sci Fi had CURSE OF THE PUPPET MASTER listed to air after PMvsDT.

Yeah, they use to. In fact I actually do own an old and very poor in quality version of the Puppet Master III that I taped off Sci-fi a few years back.

i think the reason they didnt show the demonic toy movies and puppet master 1-5 was maby because paramount released these movies and maby wouldnt give them permission to show them.the only 2 they did show was retro and curse.and these 2 was released by a different company.wish they could have shown legacy though that one was released by a different as well.its the only puupet master i dont own and i have never seen it.

reply

Well, I'm sure you've heard this before but you're not missing much. Puppet Master: Legacy is really just a clip show, a "best of" moments almost with about 5 minutes of actually new footage.

reply

still i would like to see it.i was wondering which puppets are in this movie in the actually new footage and how this movie ends.also i hear it clears up the continuation errors in the series.also i heard for some reason this movie dont show any clips from puppet master 1.i wonder why that is?

reply

1. I could say Paramount but it showed stuff from PM 2-5.

2. Since PM 1 and 3 conflict heavily, they went with 3 over 1.

3. Charles Band said "To hell with repeat scenes from Puppet Master 1, we're showing enough repeat scenes as it is!" (PLEASE NOTE SARCASM HERE. Really, some people are taking things far too seriously. Life is too serious to be taken too seriously.)

So really, your guess Wrangler is as good as mine.

I know Voom shows Puppet Master 1-5 in High Def Widescreen and 5.1 surround sound. Maybe Paramount owns the dist. rights to 1-5, bcause they are also the only ones not available on DVD. But since these films have High Def masters a Decent DVD release of 1-5 by Paramount isn't too far off.

reply

Wide Screen? Are you sure about that? I thought they were only made for a 1:33:1 full screen. The DVD's in the box set were all in full screen too.

reply

yes, Widescreen, they were filmed in 35mm. So there is a little extra on the sides of the screen, but you lose a little on the bottom. I copied them on my PC and made DVD's. I had made copies from my videos a while before that, so when I made the new DVD's I compared them.

reply

oh I see. Well if they ever release them wide screen, then I guess I won't sell my vhs versions. I'll compare them myself and see which one I like better

just because you never saw it doesn't mean it never happened

reply

[deleted]

i dont know about upn but I have caught parts of the first puppet master on amc round halloween but nothing since.

reply

UPN is a network, not a cable station, so they have there own programing probably over 12 hours a day, so it's very possible it was on, just not in your area.

reply

Dude, where's my station? ;)

Yeah that's what I was saying, because I remember when Sci-fi use to have a week long marathon where they would show a film each night from mon-fri. Of course I also remember when Sci-fi was about showing descent horror and sci-fi movies instead stupid shows like Lexx and Tremors:The Series, but I digress.
