What Middle East set fiction or nonfic books do you want film adapted ?

Irrespective whether you loved or were disappointed by The Kingdom film, what
fiction or even nonfiction books set in the Middle East region (with similar,
very different and/or even more interesting themes and characters in your view)
would you like seeing get film, or TV mini-series series adapted (if it'd need
more time) and please elaborate on the book and why you admire it. It doesn't
have to be set in present day.

Though set in Pakistan which is technically not considered a part of the Middle East, I really loved both novels by Mohsin Hamid: Moth Smoke and The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Kinda thriller/crime drama-y stuff. Moth Smoke, because of the non-linear way it's written, could be filmed sorta end to start, like Memento.
