Directors Cut

I read that the Director had planned a much longer movie roughly two and a half long but the studio cut it . If true , does anybody know if the full movie was or is available to view in its intended version . I would love to see it . I hate the way the studios dictate that the audience cannot cope with anything over 90 mins .
