What was the deal with the Supernatural thing?

What's with the whole "supernatural" set up in this movie? I know the producers used a lot of stock action footage from other movies and built part of the plot around those stolen bits. But the dreams and all the supernatural stuff was obviously written for this movie in particular. And it seems that at one time that part of the story played a much bigger role. For one thing, all the descriptions you could find at the online stores before the dvd came out (and still) mention Seagal having a "supernatural experience" in the prison, and some even mention a superntural "being." AND you can tell that the filmmakers changed a lot of the conversations between Seagal and his psychic wife pretty late in post production. One thing that slips through the cracks, though, is Seagal's wife mentioning "the apparition."

WHO KNOWS THE ANSWER TO THIS? I don't think I can wait for Vern's Seagalogy book to be released to find out the answer to this burning question.

Have you considered the possibility that there is no answer, because the film is so horribly crafted that the producers themselves don't know why they did much of what they did? I believe that is the answer, insofar as there is one.
