What the heck was with that MRI??

I've had one of those ghastly tests. And they never ever put a mask over your face!

What's up with that?

And you don't have an MRI of both your head & your entire body at the same time, to my knowledge.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

Actually, to get really good images of the brain they put an extra "coil" over your head. I haven´t seen one like this before, though.
To scan the whole body would at the same time is not impossible, but it´s not very precise, i.e. it won´t yield very good images. And to perform a full-body MRI on a child whose best diagnostic bet would be "seizures" seems illogical. But for the movie, they had to. The audience has to see the whole body to have some anatomical landmarks. And since they .....

... hid the demon in the thorax, they obviously had to scan the thorax. Wouldn´t that give her some respiratory issues, though?

Yes they do. I've had one before and they put a similar mask/helmet over my head.

Techs will place coils over the target body part to focus the MRI magnet to that particular area.
However, the mesh thing used in the scene is nothing like what get placed over your head for a brain or cervical spine MRI. It's more like a rigid domed cage, and they stabilize the head with pads, much like a pair of bookends and your head is wedged within.
