I may just be a huge nerd.... LOL!
But, did anybody else think LAIRE looked awesome? I thought it looked like a lot of fun! My wife and I kinda want to find something like this to do now. Not that we'd do it often, but just from time to time. It looks like a lot of fun.

Similar activities are actually pretty common and known as LARP, look into it.
I don't mean to impose, but I am the Ocean.
LARP stands for Live Action Role Playing and I wanted to do it ever since I watched the documentary Darkon (I would be one of the elves who had their own language and have the best weapon ever).
If you are interested try searching for LARP and your state name/town to find groups who are already established.

Eh...I've been doing viking re-enactments recently and it's not that different. Granted, it's much more dangerous. What we use are swords,shields, spears, scrams(Viking knife)and dane axes. Their all "blunted" but everything is made out of hard metal, and if you get hit in the face or body they can do a *beep* ton of damage. But yeah, it's alot of fun and it's inadvertently taught me(and others)how to kickass if it ever came down to it with weapons!

shareI know quite a few guys that are typically considered "hunks" that enjoy roleplay. It's no more pathetic than grown men who play COD for six straight hours.

I thought it was pretty damn awesome, too... and I don't think you have to be a nerd to enjoy something like this... just someone with a good sense of adventure & fun.
