I thought Seth Green's accent was so adorable in the film! He sounded a bit like James Callis in Battlestar Galactica to me.
The movie was worth it just to see Seth ... but that's just me!

That's funny, because I rented the movie because I liked Seth Green, but I could not stand the accent, and the way he hopped in and out of it. Instead of savoring his scenes, I fast forwarded thru most of his parts. It was either that, or bail altogether. I was confused because both his and Stuart Townsend's accents seemed odd and unsteady. Why did a movie set in in England have all the main parts played by non-british actors?

I was watching the movie by myself because my hubby had already bailed. Since I was a little invested in some of the characters, I wanted to see how it wrapped-up, but I was low in patience, so I fast-forwarded. I would not have done it if someone else was watching/enjoying the movie.

Townsend was using his real accent. He's Irish and so is his character. Agree w you on Seth Green's accent sucking.
shareI was surprised, but his accent stayed for most of his scenes. He kind of lost it when he got excited and exclaimed "This just keeps getting better and better!" I liked his character in this movie.

I was a little confused by the accents. Sarah's American accent made sense, because she was supposedly from NY, but I couldn't figure out how Olly, an American, had a childhood friend who was British, and then ended up in London . . . so apparently they were ALL supposed to be British? (There were a couple of lines where Olly had a slight accent, but for the most part he sounded American.) If so, really bad job of accents. I did like the movie -- just how Olly and Murray became best friends when they were from different countries and how Olly ended up in London after the book deal confused me.

shareSeth's accent wasn't that bad, however, it did take me out of the movie quite a few times mostly early on. I'd be paying attention to the story or grooving on the characters and then, like Hayden jumping, whap, I'm out... staring at a tv thinking, "hey, that kid from CAN'T HARDLY WAIT is doing an English accent."
I'm guessing it was just the oddity of hearing him speaking with the accent. It's not his fault. I don't begrudge any actor the chance to do different accents but when directors (or producers, or whoever is calling the shots) make that choice, they risk having people 'fall out' of their movie.
I just watched CAFFEINE and I found it happening again. LOL!

I liked the film but wondered what the hell Seth Green was doing there. Yes, in the right circumstances he can be a great actor, with spot-on timing and wit. But while his character had some great moments, I couldn't get past the terrible accent he sported. It almost spoiled the whole movie for me.

I thought his accent was horrible. He missed a few words and sometimes would revert to sounding like an American.
Also the fact that I watched an episode of Family Guy right before this movie started so that didnt help at all.
I don't know what you guys are talking about!! - I'm British and I think Seth Green did a really good job with the accent. There are loads of different British/English accents and his was spot on for where he was living and the background his character had.

I'm Australian but born in southern England, and can still place most regional accents accurately. While not quite Estuary English, such as David Tennant uses for Dr Who, Seth's accent was perfectly appropriate for the character in terms of his upbringing.
I hesitate to speculate, but some of our sibling posters may hail from "across the pond" and are therefore possibly ineligible to comment on the suitability or success of the accent. To compare Mr Green's laudable effort to the vaudevillian manglings of Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins is ludicrous. The US mass media has such low opinions of their populace that, on many occasions, I have seen perfectly intelligible Australian accents given subtitles in US television productions, so it is no wonder that Joe Public sometimes struggles to determine what is accurate and what isn't.
Kudos to Seth for tackling the role, it was well worth the effort. Most enjoyable.

Very, very good accent - perfect for the character in terms of geography and class. It would have fooled me. Either he has an excellent ear, or the voice coach was particularly good: it was done without resorting to a lazy drawl, which tends to be the default of attempting a poshish middleclass accent. London boys of that type tend to actually speak quite quickly - he sounded just like my brother, it was quite unnerving!
shareI myself am not British but, I do watch a lot of British movies and television. I thought that Seth did an awesome job. Yes, I did hear the times when he slipped when he got excited. I was willing to overlook that because that is something that should have been a direction saying cut and getting him to redo the scene. Overall, I was pretty impressed with his work in the film. In fact, I am going to have my husband watch the movie when he wakes up since he likes Robot Chicken and Family Guy so much.
shareThis film has just screened on BBC - it's harmless fun, but the accents confused me throughout! Seth Green's was actually okay (I'm English), but there were some occasional US/Aussie noises! (Well...they certainly weren't English!) I just couldn't work out why an Irishman had grown up with a guy from the home counties! There were also some classic 'gor blimey guv'nor' accents, and far too many people with plums in their mouths...but I'm being pedantic. I enjoyed the film, to be sure ;-)
