An American Crime (2007) vs Aurore (2005)

Greetings,

Don't you think there are similarities?

An American Crime was the story of a young girl named Sylvia Likens who got boarded at a house and got mistreated to death by a mother and her kids.

Aurore is a true story, about a girl really named Aurore.

An American Crime is based on a true story too. And the girl, Silvia, died in much the same way as Aurore did. Only this happened in the '60s in Indiana.

As much as I wanted to like "An American Crime"..."The Girl Next Door" was just made that much better even though the names were changed...I havent seen "Aurore" yet...but read a few good reviews.

I think I remember there being movies made with similer situations to Sylvia Lykins back in the 1970s...but I couldnt recall the names.

I think you're thinking of the film Mocking Birds Don't Sing

All three movies are sad
1 An American Crime Sylvia liken story

2 Aurore /Aurore Gagnon story

3 Mocking Bird don't sing /Genie story which she survive

The names were changed because 'The girl next door' is based on a fictional novel by Jack Ketchum, it's not about Sylvia Likens.

"The Girl Next Door" book/film is inspired by the Sylvia Liken Story.

Yes, stories do tend to be inspired by events... I am simply stating that TGNS is a work of fiction, hence no names were 'changed', they were new characters invented by Ketchum. Awful book by the way, wouldn't recommend it.

Why is it that on every Canadian film messageboard there is an American troll who insists on drawing some similarity to an American production? FFS Leave us alone!

that is an ignorant thing to say-i doubt it has anything to do with canadian/american...i think on every message board with films like this there are comparisons and i am glad. I actually found someone mentioning THIS film on American Crime board..did anyone start whining about canadians trying to compare to an american film? no, because that is stupid. anyway, i am glad someone did indeed mention this film on American Crime board because it brought me here and now i am going to watch the film. This is how people learn about new things sweiland...its not because americans are after you and your films..

im nerviously anxious to watch this...

my dad, never liked you..

I don't really care who makes the film either, all that matters is that stories like this get told, so that people hear them, and hopefully.... They Listen.

When she sat down in the middle of the train tracks I about lost it.
And then things got even worse.
If I could time travel for 10 minutes....lol

Why is it that on every non-American film board there's some troll with an excuse to trash on Americans?
FFS leave us alone!

FYI, I am an American, and I think most Hollywood remakes of foreign films suck rocks.
But if I decide to complain about it on a board, I cut down the studio, or the director/star/etc. I don't say stupid things like "Those damn Californians!" lol.

Let go the hate buddy, we can all be proud of our heritage without trashing on someone else's. k?
