Fraud

I am not complaining about the show because this is EXACTLY the kind of thing that makes me laugh. "Corporate all stars" who are made to do degrading things and don't know what's what is funny to me.

However, when they sell their products to the public- the biodegradable tampons, the anti-carb spray-and then again when they raised money for "charity" isn't that fraud? Selling a product you know doesn;t work or making claims you represent a charity when you don't is fraud isn't it?

Even thought they look ridiculous, they are pretty good at turning a profit. I mean, they made money selling hot soup in July and sold anti-carb spray for crying out loud.

I was wondering about that myself. It is very unlikely that all the white trash hanging at that flea market were ALSO all actors. They certainly all didn't seem like actors but maybe they didn't REALLY sell anything? Maybe they pulled the customers aside after they were off camera and explained what they were doing and gave them their money back?

It would be fun though to sue FOX if it had been you or a relative that bought those things. But then wouldn't you be pretty embarrassed to admit you were dumb enough to buy that crap?

reply

There was fine print in the closing credits that said that the players were told in advance that the customers would be receiving their money back.

reply

That just is one more bit of proof that this is a hoax show. But I hope Whitney wins so we can see her fake "surprise" when she meets the real boss. Hope she brings a banana.

reply

Whitney is super-adorable.

reply

Actually I think that's for legal reasons. If they didn't tell them that, then they would the players to go out and commit fraud. I don't think that is necessarily a red flag.

Whitney's #2 to Christy, though. Too bad she lost already.

they're fake. duh.

We don't know that they didn't give the money to charity
But yeah, selling items that you know don't work is fraud.
But given that it seems that the contestants are really actors too...

How much wool would Chuck Woolery chuck if Chuck Woolery could chuck wool?

I preface my remarks by saying that I never once saw this show,
and I think all reality television is nothing but mindless pablum...

When I heard about this show on the news, I immediately thought it
was a sham. I don't think the contestants were Ivy Leaguers or
Business School grads for a second.

If they were, and were put into this situation where they are supposed
to be up against this "billionaire" business man, it never occured to
any of them that this was not real? I mean, if it was me, the first
thing I would have done is Googled this guy or his company to see
what it was all about. A real business school grad would have done their
homework before getting involved in this at all.

They were ALL actors, participants and principles alike. Anyone who
watched this show were the only ones scammed.

I am not so naive as to think that they couldn't be actors but they also might not be. I know people who are great at sales and business and stuff like that who are dumber than a box of rocks when it comes to anything else. That being said, if they are actors, we will know about it soon. Whitney is hot. She would get cast in something else if she is an actor.

No way Fox would tell them about any specifics before they actually go to do the show. When they cast the girls for Joe Millionaire, they told them the show was preliminarily going to be called The Choice. They gave a rough outline. They did not give any specifics. So just because they don't question it, doesn't really mean anything.

Everybody thought the Coys from Obnoxious Fiance were actors too. To date I haven't seen them get cast in anything else save for Steve.

re: Googling the boss.

when people go on competitive reality tv shows... they are typically entirely isolated from the outside world. they are not allowed access to the phones or the internet. this is for two reasons 1) to protect the outcome of the eliminations from leaking out 2) to keep the contestants invested in the show and continually thinking and talking about the game... and not about their boyfriends, girlfriends, work, family, news, sports scores, etc. this happens on just about every show from Big Brother to Survivor. The only exception might be the Apprentice where they occasionally use the Internet to prepare for challenges.

It would very easy to cast the contestants “Big Fat Boss,” not tell them who the CEO they are going to meet is... and then cut them off from the outside world (in the guise of protecting the show) so that cannot do any research on him.

"I would never pay her for sex."????
Nice... really.
Todd isn't a billionaire, he's an actor, and none of the contestants are actors. When competing for money the produces cannot be involved, it falls under the same rules as game shows. The Producer, who would hire the actors, would have influence directly over who won and lost, which is VERY illegal. The winner has to win by skill or chance.
Think about any reality show... the producers don't decide, with rare exceptions due to star producers like Trump, or Simon on Idol, which are acceptions because the are considered experts, and Simon doesn't have control of the outcome, just influence.
The contestants were in it for the money... They can't lie about the money... jobs and stuff like that are abstract, but there are strict laws about letting people compete for cash. Somebody has to win it, the contestants knew that, so even if the did think it was fake, why would they care, it's still a chance to make more money in a few weeks than 99.999% of the world make a year.
Also, the massive ammount of money spent on production(sets, crew, equipment, etc.) can be pretty convincing.

that says that all the patrons were notified afterwards about the true origin of the sale and money was returned. Mystery solved.

WHITNEY IS SO DAMN HOT!!!

If The show was more successful, Whittney would be posing for playboy, damn Anyone no of a good site with pics of her?

back there someone said something about lazy police officers, your port of call wouldn't be the police it'd be a civil action in a civil courtplus they wouldn't need to hire a lawyer to protect them as the appellent in a case is not the person that needs protecting it's the defendant. yes i know both the defendant and appellent need lawyers but my point is that if you bring a case against someone you would hire a lwayer to fight your case, not protect you

A few years ago, a show called My New Best Friend was shown over here in he UK.

"A contestant has the chance to win £10,000 if they can convince their friends that a grotesque character (all played by Wootton) is actually their best friend. The character is so abhorrent the contestant risks losing their real friends, but if they let any of them in on the secret they lose the money."

The press said the show was grotesque and cruel as every week the contestants put themselves in difficult situations with friends and family. One guy even jeopardised his relationship with his girlfriend when he told her he was gay. She was distraught, verging on hysterical, but he had the option to stop at any time he wanted bu. He chose not to for a chance at the prize.

The truth is, people will do anything for money. The people on MBFOB were insanely ambitious and greedy for power and money. They may have been intelligent people, but they were single-minded and focused on the prize. They were so desperate to prove themselves to the panel of judges and the boss that they were willing to anything. Even the dumbest of tasks.

well, since there are 6 BILLION people in the world - 0.1% is actually quite a large number matey. do the math.

reply

if your going to be clever, it would leave a remaining 0.001%.

You know what the OP means, but you're a loser that has to let everyone know their opinions and how smart they think they are, and then you go and show how dumb you are by being wrong yourself.

Which is still a fair few people, but why be a petandic wanker about it.

reply

"but why be a petandic wanker about it."

Check the original quote muppet - a clear mention of "0.1%".

If you try and make others feel stupid do your research.

I do not feel the need to tell my feelings to the world unlike a certain idiot who needs to gob-off on "lost", "big brother" and "halle berry" message boards. They are always a hotbed of interlect.

...expect in your case.

My post was aimed at the guy above you, genius Jon. Who got his maths wrong in the first place. But I guess it can be aimed at you as well you stalking freak.
