HEY, SMARTA$$, get to work or quit, take your pick!

What the heck is going on with Keith Olbermann????

He's absent a ridiculous amount of times, and his replacements come no where near his hysterical energy and hyperbolic out of context "quotes".

(I've never seen a show in which the majority of its content is quoting OTHER shows, sometimes mere minutes after a rival show makes a statement. How about some original content, and for GAWD'S sake, get over the George Bush bashing...that is so weak. Why not rail against Nixon and Reagan as well every night? It kind of indicates a lack of current material....)

In any case, I don't know if he just is unable to find his way to work, or if he is regularly suspended due to his often uncited, unfounded attacks on people.

Come on Keith, either step up and DO THE JOB or RESIGN. Don't hover in an "in between" gray area where you show up when you feel like it.

That will only drag your ratings even lower than they are now (last place).

Umm. His father is very ill.

Keep it classy.

Other people who have seriously ill relatives or chronic health problems step aside and take care of their business.

I can think of John Edwards, Colin Powell, and even the Norwegian prime minister Kjell Bondevik (who resigned due to mental illness, which may be appropriate in this case as well).

Fact it, MSNBC is in last place, and having a part time foil for Bill O'Reilly simply won't do. If he isn't able to do the job, that is unfortunate, but not the fault of GE, NBC, nor its viewers.

I'll note that on the same network, that Jay Leno missed ONE SHOW in SEVENTEEN years, due to a hospital stay, not some diva disagreement with producers or being disciplined by the network. That includes periods of time of illness and loss of parents.

It's what we in the red states call "work ethic". (And yes, I know he is from Boston...you don't have to be from the midwest to have a midwestern work ethic any more than you have to be from New England to be an effete yankee.Like Keith Olbermann.)

I'm not a kool aid fan of Olberman's, but it's really sleazy to call for someone's resignation because they have taken time off for a family illness.
What do you care anyway? Are you on the GE board? Work for NBC?

Should you or your family members lose your job to be with a very ill parent?

You hate KO, hate his show, hate his politics etc, it's quite lame and bullying to try to use the situation to your advantage in your hate agenda.

Olbermann is back tonight (9/30). Confirmed that his father has been extremely ill. Keith has been spending time with him in the hospital.

Now *beep* off back to Fox News, if you're so unhappy.

reply

"Confirmed" that his father is ill...

Confirmed how? By his exhaustive "you protest too much" explanation at the beginning of his show this week??? In which he JOKED about it? Crazy, and creepy.

He did the same thing during his "mother's illness", when he admitted he was at a baseball game, although this time, he claimed that the pic that appeared to be him was not. Oh, okay...must be "photoshop"...Riiiiiight.

Whatever.

It's all irrelevant.

If you can't host your show regularly, FOR WHATEVER REASON, then resign. That goes for Joe Scarborough (A REPUBLICAN, BTW) and any of these talk show divas who show up only when it's convenient for them or when they are not crippled by a devastating hangover.

OH, I mean "sick parent".

Yeah...my sister uses that excuse to call "sick" into work too.

GROW UP, MAN UP, or GET OUT.

Funny...I've never seen a substitute host for Leno or Hannity.

I'm sure that is a coincidence. Or they've never had a sick relative or death in the family. Or maybe they have a WORK ETHIC.

No wonder this country is wallowing in manure...it's a "give me" culture now.

Here we go, yet AGAIN.

Keith misses one of the most important news and commentary nights (post super tuesday), and we are subjected to one of his unbearably dull replacements.

This man still has his job...why???

MSNBC now has less than ONE QUARTER of the viewers of Fox News. When will they stop the hemorrhaging and dump Mathews, Schultz and Olbermann...three old men whose time is O-V-E-R?

At least Rachael Maddow is able to construct and deliver a conherent statement...Keith, especially recently, has been delivering commentary at such a frenetic, hysterical pace that it has seriously started to seem like a person mumbling in tongues in an asylum in serious need of a sedative like in some old movie.

Maybe his teleprompter is set at 78rpm?

And these replacements, my gawd, where do they find these dull, lifeless stiffs like Lawrence O'Donnell...is this where NBC sends its old newsmen to die?

Get some talent in there as guest hosts, like Brian Williams, even Matt Lauer. But something's got to give.

I understand the man has personal problems. But any company will tell you, unfortunately, that when your personal problems begin to negatively affect the company, they are no longer personal.

In today's job market, you're lucky to get 3 days of "grievance leave" if you have a death in your family. We'd all like to take a day off whenever we get depressed or sick. But most of us do not have those options, even in professional positions...it's just not allowed. You're expected to show up to work, even on days when you don't feel like it.

So, MSNBC, read the ratings. End the rantings. Get some balance. Find some fresh new talent that can REALLY take on Beck/O'Reilly/Hannity.

These bitter old geezers, Ed Schultz, Chris Matthews, and Keith Olbermann are clearly out of touch with nearly everyone, and this is indicated in vibrant kodachrome by MSNBC's ratings. (That kodachrome reference was for you baby-boomers has-beens that support this geriatric network!)

GIVE US A TRUE COMPETITOR TO FOX, with a mix of news, and opinions on BOTH sides of the spectrum, and let Olbermann retire since he can't seem to reliably show up to work and when he does, he seems in perpetual danger of a spontaneous brain aneurysm!
