Get... on... the... TRAIN!!

**not so much spoilers within, but definite plot points to follow**

I won't go into the rest of the movie or critique it, I was just wondering if anyone else that saw it was as frustrated as I was at the point when Yankee finally decides to go to Chicago.

... running to hitch a ride on the NY train, when a Chicago-bound train passes him. He sees the word Chicago a dozen times, thinks about it for about 15 full seconds, and then decides to WALK to Chicago as the train passes him. If he was so dead-set on riding a train to New York, why in the world didn't it cross his mind that he could have done the same thing to get to the Windy City?

Of course, the movie would have been half the length and he wouldn't have met all the fantastical characters that teach him not only the fundamentals of baseball, but also provide him the courage to believe in himself (hey, it's a kids movie - I wasn't expecting much different).

Even so, I was half a heartbeat away from yelling at the screen as the trains were passing him, "Get on the G-D TRAIN!" Once they passed him and he started walking, I was at least expecting the bat or ball to call him on the blunder, but nope - just Yankee starting down the path to self discovery.

You are not alone. I love the movie, but lol I admit I did the same thing you did. I was sitting there with the confused look on my face as to why he didn't jump on the train and then, as you I wondered well why didn't Screwie or Darlin say anything about getting on the train since he was on a time crunch. Ah well. Minor blunder.

Ditto.

He could have been shown being thrown off the train once he got on it...but at least he should have tried to get on...
