shareThat's because you've rarely had the opportunity. The Yankees get those opportunities quite frequently. The Yankees have won about 1/4 of all WS ever played, and have played in about 1/3 of all WS ever played. So, you're right, they're bound to fail some of the time. When you're successful enough to get to the playoffs year after year, you're going to lose sometimes. Teams that don't regularly make it to the playoffs won't be so similarly "unsuccessful"...but they're still a hell of a lot more successful than the teams that aren't there!

The Soxs and the Yankees do spend more money than any other team, but they also give to other teams because of revenue sharing. Do not blame NY or Boston because your owners do not put the money on their field. Both NY and Boston are very well run teams now. I find it hilarious that Red Sox fans are followers of such a pathetically misbegotten team that in September of the 2006 baseball season they have nothing to get their blood boiled about other than a CGI film directed by the late Christopher Reeve. So this is what Red Sox fans devote their attention to when it's back to the era of October concerts at Fenway Park. Oh well, I guess I would be posting on the "Fever Pitch" board if the Yankees had been all but eliminated from playoff contention a month before the close of the season. The Red Sox can now proudly stand amongst the ranks of other one and done teams such as the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hmmmm, Curt Schilling was on that team too...
By the way, "Fever Pitch" didn't just do poorly in New York, it did poorly EVERYWHERE. Check the box office.
That may be true, but at least the Red Sox don't buy their talent. The Red Sox discover and develop it, the Yankees flash their money around and buy their talent. Name one person on that team that hasn't either been a Yankee for 10+ years, or been in the majors for that long. Not too many of them.
shareI am guessing the Yankees didnt discover and develop Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Bernie Williams and Mariano Rivera who has been with the Yankees since there debut in the MLB. What about Robison Cano, Melky Cabrera, Wang. All those players came from minor teams of the yankees. I think Trot Nixon is the only Red Sox vet who started his MLB career as a Red Sox.
