well, I have to back-up this opinion. I agree. it's a comedy. I don't care if it doesn't have any depth meaning. it's pure entertaining for me. I set my bar kinda low when I started watching this because of the bad ratings that I read on the internet. but then I found myself laughing countless of times when I was watching it.

Annette Bening's character is just WILD, throwing her *beep* around in this movie. she got the most laugh from me. and this just the third movie that made me laughing so hard so far on 2015 (after Primary Colors and Much Ado About Nothing). I dunno if that makes my standard so low but I don't care. I really enjoyed this movie. 😁

It is enjoyable. I settled into after I got used to the women's patter. Phrases like "Keep it in the vault" were a puzzle at first.

I liked it too. It's a pointless but cute movie you can put on while folding laundry. I've never seen the original, but I went into this movie too see Meg Ryan. I loved her hair, and the rest of the characters were funny and the story was solid. I really don't see what the problem is.

I think this movie is quite remarkable. It may not be earth shattering but that's due to the play that Clare Boothe Luce wrote back in the 30s. This version relies absolutely on the original screen play and even adopts huge pieces of the dialogue. And yet, writer-director Diane English has turned it from an overtly self-loathing piece of sexism into a modern view of women facing a domestic crisis and a crisis of friendship and providing one another with the support to survive and thrive.

It was really masterfully done but can only really be appreciated as a companion piece to the Clare Boothe Luce/George Cukor 1939 version. It's unfortunate that so few seem to understand it's provenance and the achievement it represents.
