Goes to show you that these TV movies really are not following the true story. So many liberties are taken, all for the sake of ratings! So many people really believe everything they watch and don't read the backstory to compare. Thank you for the link. Also, from other articles I've read, the 3 daughters, who seemed so convinced their stepmother murdered their father and then went on to win the civil court suit, stated they would use the farm to save race horses, or something to that effect. Doesn't appear that is going to happen. I wonder why the farm was listed for sale in June of 2011 (and still on the market)? I guess the farm must not have meant that much to them, just the prospect of pocketing the proceeds.

Um, DUH!!! Especially if it's a Lifetime movie. Look at the Carly White story (I think that's the name of the movie) where she was abducted as a baby and raised by a criminal. She was finally reunited with her birth parents, and all kinds of strife ensued. She ultimately returned to the woman who had abducted her as she considered this woman her mother in spite of the way she'd been treated by her most of the time. The blurb at the end of the movie lied and said that she kept in touch with her birth parents but in truth, she didn't. She wanted nothing to do with them after finding out that they used up the trust they'd set up for her. It also didn't help that the birth mother was CONSTANTLY berating the abductor (and no, I don't blame her, but she really should have been careful not to do it in front of her daughter. This [for better of for worse] was the woman who raised her and who she thought of as mother all those years) and bad mouthing her. This made the daughter extremely uncomfortable and she started to resent her birth mother.

Anyway, the point is, Lifetime is well-known for changing things in movies that are supposed to be based in truth. It's why as of last year or the year before, they've started using the term "Inspired by" as opposed to "based on" when making a movie that is a true story. And it does make a difference which term/phrase you use. "Based on" means that you're only changing names and places and a FEW things to protect the real people and you're trying to keep to the true story as much as possible. "Inspired by," means you're changing most of what happened to make your own story and you were inspired by the true story, but you're not relying on it to tell what really happened. Lifetime often does the latter, but claims the former and this is where they tend to get into trouble and get the reputation they now have with people.
