The Real Propaganda Comes From The Left

I just read a review someone posted for "Voices in Iraq". I wonder if this guy really believes all that garbage he posted posted? Are these leftists spewing these lies on behalf of Islamo-facism, International Answer or just because of their own twisted psyche?

Let's review the enemy propaganda:

The Lie: "If one is to review the Red Cross' records of Abu Ghraib tortures it wasn't Saddam's henchmen who were being tortured it was a fine mix of a 80-90% innocent civilians and 10-20% rightfully detained people. Never was it disclosed that any of that 10-20% were Saddam's Henchmen or curfew violators."

Reality: This is a blatant distortion. The Red Cross records tracked the total number of inmates at Abu-Got-Grabbed, not those who were abused by Graner and crew. Those who were subject to abuse were all "Tier One Detainees" located in Special Custody --- meaning the worst of the worst --- former regime elements, foreign fighters or members of organized criminal operations that do nice thing like kidnap Americans for sale to Zarqawi. Does anyone know that it was a US Army investigation that uncovered what happened on the night shift during late October and early November 2003?

The Lie: "In addition the Arab world really has never listed 'Democracy' as one of their opponents, more correctly it is the USA's 6 Billion Dollars a year to Isreal, our military bases in Saudi Arabia and our interest in Oil."

Reality: Name one Arab democracy besides Iraq. The Jews need our help because without it the Arabs would push them into the sea. We no longer have any military bases in Saudi... the only reason we had them there was to make sure Saddam stayed in check after the Gulf War. And last time I checked everyone in the wold is interested in oil not just America. Maybe that is because it's the life blood of the civilized world, everything we have depends on it, in one way or another.

The Lie:"Its true that some Iraqis actually get paid a good wage. Just as its true that no Iraqi people have control of their most prized oil and US corporations do."

Reality: The Iraqi government controls the oil and it is sold on the open market. In fact, there are no US oil companies in Iraq, only oil services companies (Halliburton, etc) working on the infrastructure. Iraqi Crude pumps it's own oil and the revenues go directly into the general treasury instead of Saddam's bank account.

The Lie: "Nor does it mention that 20,000 civilians have died due exclusively to US artillery."

Reality: Not sure where the number 20,000 came from. Iraqibodycount.net will give you a better idea on who is killing who in Iraq. The majority of deaths are being caused by the terrorists (Bathists, Ansar groups, Al Qaeda, etc)

The BBC apologized over a report that claimed the Coalition was responsible for a majority of deaths --- futher analysis of this report shows that US-led forces have killed less than 2500 civilians since the campaign began.

The commonly sited study from the Lancet & Johns Hopkins used an extremely small sample concentrated around Baghdad containing only 96 actual deaths. The 100,000 dead since March 2003 is a figure based more on their politics since the did not differenciate between violent and non-violent deaths, nor between combatants and non-combatants deaths, which would seem to be minimal filters for accurately gauging the impact on civilians.

The Lie: "Nor does it mention that from 1993-2003 UN sanctions purposed and authored by the USA Government killed over 200,000 Iraqi civilians."

Reality: Saddam is responsible for these deaths. He gamed the Oil For Food program and stole the aid that was meant for his people and then turned around an build palaces with the money he got from selling it on the black market(24 new palaces contructed between 1992 and 2003).

Additionally he pumped black market Iraqi oil all over the world, including to the Kurds who he hated almost as much as the US. At the begin of the invasion special forces blew up a pipeline that was delivering about a quarter million barrels a day to Syria. That's almost 10 million a day in one illegal pipeline. He could have fed his people but choose not to.

Please use this information to refute enemy propoganda where ever you hear it spoken, in line at the store, at work, even in church. It only takes a few moments of your time to use the internet and research this information so you will have the facts and the sources on your side. You may run into a lot of conspiracy material while you are looking but if you stick to reputable news sources (BBC, NYT, WSJ, etc) you can avoid getting bogged down in the intellectual tomfoolery of the Michael Moore types.

Most of the Left arguements don't actually use false history or phoney statistics; instead they frame the arguement in a simplisticly, sylogistic
way, i.e. :

-The UN imposed sactions on Iraq
-1,000,000 Iraqis died from malnutrition or disease during sanctions.
-The UN, and it's master, America, are responsible for those one million deaths.

This kind of bumper sticker logic, apparent in the Left at all levels, is borne out of ignorance more than anti-americanism. It's a lot easier to say things like "You can't impose democracy by the barrel of a gun!" or "No BLood FOr Oil!" then to know history and geopolitics. Plus it's fun to feel like you against something, big and powerful.

So get the facts and slap these dumbos around the next time they want to run their mouths in public to show how tuned in they are!

Yeah it is bumper sticker logic.

These are all great points that nobody so far has even attempted to refute.

People like to pick on news stories (like Voices of Iraq, I assume) that don't take a liberal point of view. They label them "right wing" when they don't have any agenda, but because they don't have a left wing slant, then people give them that label.

I think people are so used to this bumper sticker logic, that is being constantly promoted everywhere, that they can't recognize unbiased reporting when they see it.

There *is* much ignorance on the left, because their bumper sticker logic is directed at kids who are naive about most things in the world, including politics. But the people who write those bumper stickers are definitely anti-American.

And I would suppose that you would label this movie as unbiased reporting? While I would agree that Michael Moore types use their position as editor of a film to manipulate an audience by showing and spinning only certain images, there is nothing in this movie to suggest that it does not follow that trap. The editors of this movie had an agenda just those on the left. It’s ridiculous to say that this movie doesn't try to influence you to agree with the US involvement in Iraq. The sheer fact that of 850 hours of film recorded only 85 minutes made it onto the screen should point to loss of some opinion. This is the essence of selective editing.

Wow! That is great, there is so much misinformation put out there I can not believe people actually take things at face value any more. What I thought was funny was when I put my copy of this DVD in (which I bought from an Iraqi street vendor) the first thing that came up was a preview for a Micheal Moore movie.
I think every one in the US should watch this dirctly after watching the documentry Uncle Saddam.

The title of this topic is hilarious. If Leni Riefenstahl was still alive, Karl Rove would probably have hired her in a heartbeat. As for the 'bumper sticker logic' of the left, that's funny when The Right wingers repeat the same bumper sticker length talking points ad infinitum on places like FNC and the talk show circuit, thinking if they say something enough times people will believe it to be true. Republicans got voted out of control this year because the emperor had no clothes and their policies weren't working. Hopefully some on the Left will now step up and show us that they have better ideas of how to run this country...otherwise they'll get voted out on the next election day. It's amusing that the neocon agenda has shown itself to be the unrealistic daydreaming flawed idealists that the left was often accused of being for their excessively expensive social programs.

Left-leaning independent, thanks to incompetent lying morons like da Boosh...
