Do you prefer Scipio in the film than in the book?

I have to say I liked Scipio much better in the movie than in the book...you?

me too. he seems much nicer in the movie than the book.

reply

I like him better in the movie, and not just because he's so hot!

reply

Scipio in the film behaved in a more mature manner but I suppose that's because he's older than the Scipio in the book, who is only supposed to be twelve or thirteen.

I agree he's more mature in the movie. Also he's nicer and better-looking.

OMGoodness! I Rollo Weeks as Scipio! He is Georgous(sp?)!!! Never imagined him in the role but loved every moment of it.

As for me, I surely do prefer Scipio from the book. Film's Scip seems to be more satisfied with his life than original one, there is no that boyish aspiration to something unexplored. Scipio from the book is much more vulnerable, I think

reply

movie scipio is a lot more upbeat and hotter
book scipio always kept me guessing, he had an air of mystery of him, if you know what i mean

*cough* you don't have to be hostile about it.

you saying 'i'm right, you're wrong' is, number one, completely inappropriate and ,number two, irrelevant.

so what if people loved rollo weeks in the roll? i did. to say that one is 'wrong' and say that you're 'right' is presumptuos and rude.

if you like the book better, stick with the book. no one is making you swear allegiance to the movie at knife-point, for crying out loud.

I would've loved to see Rollo stand up to his father in the book, especially about Hornet.

And I would've loved to see him cry.

And I would've loved to see Aaron cry, too, in the boat. Instead of being picked up by Rollo from his bed. -.-

I'm a little disappointed in the Scip of the movie-- but Rollo Weeks is just as good, too. Except that the producers really should have put in some scenes of him arguing with his father. And he looks good. :[

And saying that you're right and we're wrong is simply mean. Err... I couldn't think of a better word, but everyone has their own opinion. Thinking that you're right about your opinion of Scipio and everyone else's is wrong is mean and... "unconsiderative" of other people's opinion.

So there. My opinion. No arguements meant.

I paricularly liked Scipio much better in the book. I don't know why, but the atmosphere of his character seeed different, more mature, I guess, in the book than in the movie.

reply

Yes I did. Film-Scipio was better than Book-Scipio, but Film-Prosper wasn't as good as Book-Prosper.

The book Scip is a more developed character; I like him more.

Im sticking with "The book is always better than the movie"
with all the characters
not to say that Rollo was or was not a good actor
just saying that in the books you know the characters so much better
you picture them differently and theyre personalities are embedded in you head
but in a movie the storyline is the main focus and very little character development takes place
but seeing how this is my favorite book of all time
i loved both the book and movie

He was great in the movie and book (especially Rollo). I thought it was good that he didn't stand up to his father because he's not meant to and he's scared of his dad. That's part of the point I think.

reply

I don't know I didn't know there was a difference. I always thought of Scipio as mysterious and hottttt and that was exactly that!

reply

I think I prefer the book version of Scipio to the movie just because *as mentioned by someone else* the characters from the book stuck in my mind and made an impression. I don't think any actor they would have picked could have replaced the book Scip, even though Rollo did a good job nonetheless.
